Intel Skulltrail will launch the attack in February

The new platform will be a "super fighter" in every respect.

The "idea" is similar in many ways to AMD's Quad FX solution. The Skulltrail platform is actually almost entirely a server-based solution, which will soon be in the hands of home users who want the maximum. Intel recommends the D5400XS motherboard as the basis of the technology, which will probably only be available in limited quantities for potential buyers.

To name just a few:

  • 2 Socket 771 sockets for 45 nm XEON Harpertown processors, so 8 cores can be received for operation on one motherboard
  • 4 fully buffered FB-DIMM socket servers for DDR2 memories
  • 2 NVIDIA nForce 100 MCP chips with 4 16x PCI-E busses, so it seems that the possibility of using SLI (also Quad-SLI?) On an Intel brand card seems to be realized
  • 10-layer PCB

According to preliminary information, Skulltrail will launch around the first week of February, and we are expected to have to leave $ 5400 or more in the store for an Intel D600XS.
