An interesting survey with Internet Explorer

An interesting survey with Internet ExplorerAlmost every second computer of a domestic internet user was infected last year.

According to a Eurostat survey, almost one in three Internet users in the 27 countries of the European Union has been infected with an infection last year, but the situation in Hungary is even worse. According to statistics, in the past year, 31% of Internet users have received a virus or other computer infection in the 27 states of the European Union. Some country-specific data: Bulgaria (58%), Malta (50%), Slovakia (47%), Hungary (46%), Italy (45%), Austria (14%), Ireland (15%), Finland (20 Germany).

According to a July report by NSS Labs, Microsoft browsers (Internet Explorer 8 and Internet Explorer 9) continued to maintain their leading position in the rankings. Internet Explorer blocks 1,6 billion malicious malware and phishing attempts a year, which kills about 3-5 million attacks a day. The browser thus detects and deactivates seven times more viruses than its competitor. The survey makes no mention of how many false alarms this result entails.

IE9 filters 92% of malware using the SmartScreen URL and the remaining 8% using Application Reputation. SmartScreen Application Reputation indicates when there is a suspicion about the reliability of a downloaded application, thus protecting the user from an unsafe program. IE9 is the only browser on the market that only warns you when downloading really dangerous, under-known applications - others do well for well-known programs that run on the computers of tens of millions of users with complete security.

NSS Labs conducted the July 2011 survey 19 times over 76 days in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden , Switzerland, Turkey and Great Britain.
