Indestructible worm

Kaspersky has pointed out that the Warezov worm has once again started a strong attack, so this day, a significant part of the virus infections can be blamed for this malware.

Kaspersky's security announcement reveals that the Warezov worm has resurfaced and has been spreading strongly since the weekend. The latest variant of the worm, marked "nf", has proliferated so significantly in recent days that 70-85 percent of infected e-mails now spread this worm.

The latest variant of the Warezov worm, like previous versions, spreads primarily in emails. Attached to these emails is a Trojan that is responsible for downloading the latest version of the Warezov worm and then installing the malware. As soon as the worm starts, it starts collecting email addresses stored in files on infected computers, to which it forwards an e-mail using its own SMTP component. Of course, the download trojan is also included in the appendix.

The main threat to Warezov is its ability to disable most antivirus software and firewall applications. This puts already infected computers at additional risk. Additional tasks of the worm include downloading various malicious files over the Internet, preferably without the user's knowledge.

The Warezov worm has been threatening computers for months. The malware first appeared last September, and Symantec experts were the first to warn of its dangers. However, the first version of the worm that rolls on Skype was identified by F-Secure in February this year.
