Completed Linux Mint 19

Completed Linux Mint 19

Release 19 is based on Ubuntu 18.04 Long Supported Edition (LTS).

Completed Linux Mint 19

This release primarily brings further refinement to the existing software environment, but thanks to the new LTS foundations, both the kernel and the graphical interface consist of much newer components. In Linux Mint 19, the star of the show is Timeshift. Although Linux Mint was introduced in 18.3 and ported back to all Linux Mint releases, it is now at the heart of Linux Mint's upgrade strategy and communication. Thanks to Timeshift, you can go back in time and restore your computer to the last working system snapshot.

Briefly about other innovations:

  • Update Manager no longer requires user vigilance and selective updates.
  • Software Manager has been severely fine-tuned.
  • Xed, the text editor, uses a new settings window.
  • HiDPI support has been improved.
  • New wallpapers and welcome screen.
