Eleglide M2 electric bike - Entry level, but not what you first think!
The Eleglide M2 has received capabilities that were typical of the more expensive category until now.
The Eleglide M1 and M1 Plus are undeniably good bikes, but it is also undeniable that they represent the absolute entry level in the 26-27 inch category. They got the minimum of everything, and in return the price is so low that there aren't many other e-bikes on the market that can be evaluated for that price. Of course, development cannot stop, it has to be developed, new things are needed.
Of course, the Eleglide M2 did not bring any real, revolutionary innovations, but we are very pleased to see that more serious parts and solutions are beginning to trickle down into this entry-level category as well. Less than a year and a half ago, more serious damping, a more capable transmission, stronger brakes and control via the application were all the privileges of the half-million category. But now we can put all that in the past, as the Eleglide M2 gives us access to delicious things at an affordable price.
Until now, we could not know much about the capabilities of the Eleglide M2, which debuted today, only an unboxing video was posted by the distributor on YouTube two weeks ago. Of course, we could also spot interesting things on this! Let's see what we get today for 899 euros, that is ~ HUF 356!
The Eleglide M2 Eu has become a comfortable bike, the motor is 250 watts, but the manufacturer emphasizes that the maximum power is 570 watts, which is quite a large number, but its role will be maximum in the fraction of seconds after starting. The 250 watts and the assistance up to a maximum of 25 Km/h are all necessary for Eu compliance. What is gratifying is that the motor has a relatively high torque of 55 Nm, which is a significant difference compared to the 30-35 Nm torque of weaker bikes.
The shifter is Shimano, of course, but we don't know whether this applies to the rear or the front transmission or the shift mechanism. They would be surprised if Tourney wasn't on the plane. What is gratifying is that we can operate with a total of 28 speed steps, that is, we can choose between 3 front and 8 rear sprockets. Before I forget, the bike has also grown a bit, the wheel size is now 27,5 inches, the maximum load capacity is the usual 120 kilograms.
The goodies are coming! At the front wheel, we finally get a hydraulic shock absorber instead of a smooth spring strut. The spring travel is also quite long, 10 centimeters, so there is a good chance that we can forget about springs that snap badly. The brake is still hydraulic. Of course, I am well aware that those who cried until now because a bicycle has crappy mechanical brakes will now cry because the disc is not big enough or the brake is not branded. And I say, no matter what, the hydraulic one will be better than the mechanical one, so let's be happy that they are already being thrown on bikes at the entry level.
Finally, the last interesting thing here is the Bluetooth connector, and of course the phone application, through which we can adjust the bike, measure the distance covered and everything else we are used to. Everything you need is there, perhaps only one thing shows the entry level, the battery, which is not hidden in the frame, and the fact that this bike also has a pedal sensor. Unfortunately, the torque sensor is a little further away, but honestly, I would be surprised if it didn't arrive in a year and a half.
In the meantime, I say let's be happy with what we have, that is, the Eleglide M2, which really looks like a good little bike. Let's say the price has increased a bit because of the "extras", but I think that 899 euros is still not crazy for this knowledge, so the Eleglide M2 can nicely continue the manufacturer's tradition and offers a lot for relatively little money.
