LTS release will be Ubuntu 12.04 (updated)The Canonical team is already working hard on the next release of Ubuntu, which will be LTS, or Long Term Supported. In these versions, stability is given priority, in which case the novelties of previous releases are largely refined.

The latest release of Canonical Ltd.’s Linux distribution recently appeared, so developers can focus on the next big throw. Little is known about the new features yet, but it can be enveloped that Ubuntu 12.04 gets full ARM architecture support, enhances the Unity and GNOME interface, improves performance, use in private and mixed cloud environments, multi-monitor display, and additional security features appearing.

For LTS editions, 3 years of support for desktops and 5 years for servers was the norm. However, this is about to change. Ubuntu 12.04 (“Pontos Tobzoska”) is supported for 5 years in both desktop environments and servers. The company explained the move by saying that the demand for the desktop version is increasing in corporate environments, where longer maintenance support is common.
