ASUS 'new external Blu-ray writer debuts
The device presented at CeBIT was named BW-12D1S-U, we can roast Blu-ray discs up to 12 × with it.
Thanks to the design of the eye-catching diamond-shaped piano lacquer housing, it can be used both horizontally and vertically. The ASUS writer has 4 MB of buffer memory, a USB 3.0 port, and Blu-ray 3D disc (Dolby EX and 5.1 channel DTS-HD audio) support. Thanks to Optical Tuning Strategy (OTS) technology, it writes BD-R 12 times, BD-R DL 8 times, BD-R LTH 6 times, and BD-RE 2 times. For DVDs and CDs, it has the usual speeds: 16 × DVD-R / + R, 8 × DVD-R / + R DL and DVD + RW, 6 × DVD-RW, 5 × DVD-RAM, 40 × CD-R and 24 × CD-RW.
The ASUS BW-12D1S-U comes with a Cyberlink software package (Power2Go 7, PowerDVD 10, PowerBackup 2.5 and InstantBurn 5) and costs € 152.
