Cooler Master Aquagate Mini R120 CPU cooler

As we wrote about our news these days, more and more manufacturers are discovering water cooling for themselves.

This statement can be summed up by the fact that more and more manufacturers are trying to create a compact, fully in-machine system. Unfortunately, in most cases, even with great benevolence, this was just an interesting attempt, as the completed solutions became loud and weak.

This is not the first time that Cooler Master has entered the field of liquid cooling solutions. Last year, they released a product called Aquagate that cooled the processor. This solution consisted of a box placed outside the house, from which two pipes led the coolant into our machine.

The Aquagate Mini, as the name suggests, is a much smaller solution and what’s essential is it doesn’t require an outer box. The system actually consists of two main units, the heat sink and the CPU cooling unit. The top of the latter also houses the tank and the pump, so its weight has increased considerably, but we can save valuable space.

3dXtreme staff tested the Mini. The results don’t look too good at first glance, but after a little thought, I don’t think we should complain. The processor didn’t get much cooler than with a larger air cooler, but it got a little cooler nonetheless. That’s a big word, as the Aquagate Mini can’t be called a serious system, which is mostly justified by its size. From this size onwards, the performance achieved is not bad at all, especially when we add that, being liquid-cooled, it has a much more flexible cooling performance than any air-cooled one.

So what about the Aquagate Mini? It’s cool enough for its size and probably won’t lose its head with a warmer Prescott. Not really suitable for tuning, but a very important aspect is that it is quiet. For those who want a simple quiet tuning-free machine, it is definitely a good solution.
