CES - 254cm diagonal from LG

LG Electronics will soon launch a 254 cm (100 inch) Laser Display with Smart TV and Digital TV features (model name: HECTO). The Laser Display consists of a screen more than two and a half meters in diameter and an external Ultra Short Throw (UST) projector unit that can project even from a short distance. The device delivers Full HD (1080p) resolution and outstanding contrast thanks to LG's advanced laser based illumination system.

Images with a high contrast ratio that appear on a 254cm screen create the impression of sitting in a cinema. Previously, a considerable distance was required to project images of this size. Due to space requirements and large projection distance, home use of projectors is not widespread. However, the situation is different with the UST projector unit: with the device, it is enough to place the lens at a distance of ~ 56 centimeters from the screen. The LG Laser Display offers Full HD (1080p) resolution and 10: 000 dynamic contrast ratio, as well as vivid and sharp images in both dark and bright rooms.

The LG Laser Display is built on the LG Smart TV platform, which includes all the superior features of the premium models, including Smart World and LG Cloud features, the Magic Remote motion sensor remote control, and Intel WiDi technology. The device is also equipped with a digital TV tuner, and users can easily access social networking sites such as Facebook as well as VoD services included in LG Premium content such as Netflix *. Through the LG Cloud cloud service, the system is also capable of managing personal content (images, home videos and music libraries).

LG’s Smart TV platform offers a customizable interface and smart connectivity options that provide easy access to content on smartphones, laptops, mass storage and the Internet. With built-in WiDi and Wi-Fi, content on compatible external devices can be streamed to your TV wirelessly. Features and external devices can be easily controlled via the control panel using the Magic Remote motion-sensing remote control, which has four control modes (voice recognition, scrolling, motion detection and pointing).

The LG Laser Display’s two 10W speakers are built into the projector unit and provide virtual surround sound for a lifelike cinematic experience. The device bears the hallmarks of LG’s restrained and elegant Dynamic Arc Design design; the height of finely curved surfaces shall not exceed 15 centimeters. The 254cm screen fits well into any interior thanks to the LG CINEMA SCREEN design.
