The new Lightning is the heir to the throne of tuning
Although we’ve grabbed a keyboard a few times with this graphics card, now the company has sent a detailed presentation that we can’t go by without a word. Once you have enough popcorn, you can start the show.
The MSI R7970 Lightning features an all-new "Unlocked Digital Performance" architecture, with which its record-breaking potential has been increased even more. Among its most important components, we can mention the unlocked BIOS, the digital PWM and the improved power supply module solution. Unlocked BIOS removes tuning limitations in AMD "Catalyst Control Center". The Power Tune limit has increased by 180% and the OCP limits are also relaxed, unleashing the potential of the graphics card. The digital power module gives a signal and indicates the voltage, so it is much more stable and accurate than traditional analog solutions. The improved network module consists of 17 power supply parameters, has an 8-pin power supply connector, and is equipped with a Lightning Power Layer (LPL) solution.
The MSI R7970 Lightning already has the next generation Twin Frozr IV cooling solution. The striking design of the Twin Frozr IV consists of two large 10 cm PWM fan solutions with propeller blade (PropellerBlade) technology for outstanding cooling. The controller is also familiar with the company's exclusive dedusting technology, which controls the operation of the fan, removing dust from the heat sinks by turning it in the reverse direction for 30 seconds at start-up, so you can keep the graphics card's cooling performance at an optimal level. The second heat sink on the back also helps reinforce the structure of the card.
The card includes the “GPU Reactor” power supply module, which improves overall overclocking stability, is easy to install and has many built-in security features. The new cannon was assembled from Military Class III components. Components certified to military standard 810G have been tested in seven different categories, each in a certified laboratory. Whether it's the tantalum-core Hi-C capacitors on the video card, the CopperMOS cooling implementation, the uniform shapes with gold SSC, or whether the card's humidity or of its stainless dark solid capacitors (Dark Solid CAP), all of which together ensure the perfect stability of the MSI R7970 Lightning.
For tuning lovers, MSI has developed the 3X3 OC Kit: V-Check points allow you to monitor GPU, memory and VDDCI voltages. The 4 mini DisplayPort and 2 DVI connectors allow AMD Eyefinity technology to use 6 screen outputs for a single card if the user needs it, be it a professional, fan or even a gamer.
Pricing (thankfully) was not commented on by the company. In this regard, we suggest that we expect a brutally high amount and then multiply it by two, then maybe you shouldn’t get an unpleasant surprise anymore.
