LG's new eco-friendly monitor could be the wedge of the desktop

LG Electronics is launching its new premium monitor series, the W86 series. The LED-backlit LCD monitor conjures elegance at home and in the office with its slim design and unique look.

The W86’s ultra-thin screen is matched by a shimmering ruby ​​red stand that separates it from a gold band. The entire surface of the monitor is piano black lacquered and its appearance is clear. LG has also paid close attention to the W86's external controls, such as an LED-lit on / off button that adorns the body of the device. The other controls were hidden at the bottom of the frame by the designers. These are only noticeable when the hand is approached, as they glow pale red.

Using advanced LED backlighting, LG has managed to create a slim W20,5 of just 86mm, which is a third thinner and lighter than most CCFL backlit monitors. With a dynamic contrast ratio of 2: 000, the W000 delivers the finest detail, whether it's for photos, movies or games. No sacrifices are required for this performance, as the W1 consumes 86 percent less energy and contains no mercury at all compared to traditional CCFL (cold cathode compact fluorescent) technology monitors.

Not only does the W86 look great on the outside, but its picture quality is also excellent. The 23- and 24-inch models are available in Full HD 1080p resolution, with all versions offering a 2ms response time. The Auto Bright function adjusts the brightness of the monitor to the lighting conditions of the room and the content displayed on the screen, resulting in a better image while also saving energy. The W86 connects easily to computers, game consoles and Blu-ray devices via two HDMI ports. Thanks to the 16: 9 aspect ratio, there are no black bars in widescreen movies that would disturb the view.

LG has added smart features to the W86 monitor. To play online content, the device offers a cinema mode that provides a more enjoyable view compared to traditional displays. The monitor also allows you to automatically dim everything on the screen except the video at the touch of a button. In 4: 3 mode, movies, games and programs can be stretched with minimal distortion to fill the entire screen. EZ Zooming saves the eye by instantly switching the image on the screen to a lower resolution to display larger, easier-to-read text, while the timer automatically automatically warns the user to pause the use of the screen.

In addition to the LED-backlit model, the W86 is also available in a traditional CCFL-backlit design. This version offers the same premium design, top-notch image quality and full feature set as the LED version at a lower price.

The LG W86 will be available in Hungary from September. The LED version will be available in 24 inches at a gross recommended retail price of HUF 119.
