Intel officially announces new Cannon Lake processors based on 10nm. Intel will build ninth-generation Core processors on these cores, which are made with 10-nanometer manufacturing technology.

We’ve known almost everything about this architecture so far, since we’re going to get essentially Coffee Lake processors on a smaller bandwidth. This is expected to result in a further decrease in TDP and higher clock speeds. The real novelty will be the Ice Lake expected in 2018, which will already bring a whole new architecture, comparable in scale to the Broadwell-Skylake switch.
