ASUS introduces energy-efficient DVD burner

ASUS has introduced its latest optical drive, the DRW-24B5ST. The traditional 5,25-inch drive wants to stand out from its peers the most with its energy-saving performance.

ASUS has been delicate in trying to save energy for this drive, as all the components that make up the DRW-24B5ST all reduce the power consumed in standby mode. This is true, of course, when a disk is inserted and when it is empty. ASUS has branded this eco-friendly design under the E-Green brand. According to the data provided by the manufacturer, as a result, the drive uses about 50 percent less energy during operation than its previous counterparts.

In addition, of course, the engineers have tried to move forward, as the 1536 KB cache promises 160 milliseconds of access time for DVDs and 140 milliseconds for CDs. Depending on the data to be output, the DRW-24B5ST offers 24 times the write speed for DVDs, while it can be 48 times faster for CDs.

The recommended end user price for the ASUS DRW-24B5ST is US $ 31, the exact release date is not yet known.
