ATI R800, RV870, RV840 and RV810 later this year!
The DirectX 11 war will begin later this year.
AMD has unveiled its near-complete roadmap for DirectX 11-compatible 40nm GPUs, which the company currently believes will be launched in 2009. The roadmap starts with the low-end RV810 all the way to the R800, which will certainly be a dual-GPU product (with two RV870 cores). The other two key components in the product line in the DX11 conquest are the high-performance RV870 and mid-range RV840, these two variants will replace the RV770 / RV790 and RV740-based models.
According to the preliminary specification, the RV870 will contain 1200 shading units and its memory bandwidth will reach 143 GB / s. It is likely that the new GPUs will belong to a family dubbed the Radeon HD 5800, the RV870 Radeon HD 5870 and the R800 Radeon HD 5870 X2. No such information is yet available for the RV840 and RV810.
