Asus Splendid MA3850M: HD video processor and RV670 in one

Asus introduced an interesting mule card.

The Splendid MA3850M is nothing more than a cross between the manufacturer’s Splendid HD imaging processor and an RV670 graphics core tucked into an MXM module. Although the engineers tried to cover the printed circuit board, the device still provides a pretty bizarre view from the back.

But what is it all about? In essence, the card can be called a basic HD 3850 graphics controller - as far as a basic MXM module can be called - which is filtered through a chip called Splendid HD, so that you can see a more contrasting, even richer image on your monitor. The markers could be further enhanced, but we would just like to add that, as a dowry of Splendid technology, we still have the option of using different, pre-set image profiles. The three profiles are: Game mode, Photo mode and Video mode.

The 3D power, on the other hand, is already provided entirely by the mobile RV670 chip, which, in addition to providing sufficient performance in today's DX9 and DX10 games, also has advanced power management. For Mobility chips, this is exponentially true, meaning MA3850M owners can expect slightly lower power consumption and heat generation than if they had bought a plain desktop card. The clock speed of the graphics core has been shot at 668 MHz, while the 512MB GDDR3 memory chips are effectively operating at 1,68 GHz.

The availability of the card is, in principle, alive from today, but we cannot say anything encouraging about its arrival in Hungary.
