ASUS Eee - in the keyboard

Asus lifted the veil from an interesting concept: it combined the basic elements of the deservedly successful “Eee” product line with a backlit keyboard and a small, touch-sensitive screen.

Surely for many of us, the prosperous Commodore line jumps in the light of the above, let’s face it, it’s no coincidence that the concept has once conquered the world, and if it depends on ASUS, history will repeat itself this time around.

Fortunately, the hardware used brings the current level: Intel Atom processor, 1GB DDR2 memory, 32GB SSD, Bluetooth adapter, WLAN adapter, which means that the equipment already seen in netbook models comes back in this configuration as well. You can also use a television or monitor as a display device, thanks to the HDMI and VGA outputs.

The special feature of the device is the touch-sensitive 5-inch display, which can display the quick launch buttons and basic information about the operation of the system, and can also function as a “touchpad”. It is still questionable what exactly ASUS wants to achieve with this solution, but what is certain is that there are countless options for using the extra panel.

The expected purchase price and time to market of the device with Windows XP Home are unknown at this time.
