The bill, called Bill 2549, has already fought its way through all official bodies. The installation could take place after the signature of Governor Jan Brewer.

The state of Arizona is making an attempt to curb averse Internet users (commonly known as trolls). The law they drafted defines in detail the so-called trolling. Bill 2549 states that it is illegal to intimidate, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or violate any person using any electronic or digital device, and it is strictly forbidden to use obscene, immoral, lush or profane words or statements. Whoever has been found guilty of violating the above points may be sentenced to up to 2,5 years in prison.

Critics say it is not always possible to clearly define what constitutes trolling. They find it too difficult to judge what can be annoying or offensive. Bill 2549 can also provoke serious debates about free speech.
