AOC AGON AG271QX gamer monitor test

AOC AGON AG271QX gamer monitor test

The AOC monitor came to us in a nice color box. The monitor is visible on the cardboard and the main features are also indicated. True, this product is already in the category we probably won’t buy based on the box.

When we open the package, we find the panel, the stand and the cables in a thick nickel cell, and a small counter with eight buttons. The cables are suitable for all connections, there is also DisplayPort, HDM, microHDMI, as well as D-SUB and DVI. We also get a miniJack cable for audio and a USB 3.0 cable for the USB HUB on the monitor.

The stand comes in two pieces. Both the base and the vertical support are made of metal, but we find a plastic cover on them here and there.

Unusually, the AOC comes with four screws to assemble the stand and panel. This is certainly good if the goal is stable recording, but if the one-time gamer takes the monitor to, say, a LAN party and leaves the screws on the way, he won’t be too happy.

The panel on the stand can be adjusted in all directions. You can turn 20 degrees sideways on it, tilt 21,5 degrees up and down. the height of the display can be adjusted to 130 mm in the most comfortable position for us. There is a feature that I couldn’t really interpret for a gamer monitor, and that is PIVOT mode, that is, when we turn the panel to a vertical position. I don’t play too much these days, but I don’t think there would be a game that would require this, and the screen resolution also doesn’t make it necessary, because let’s say an A4 page in Word fits loosely on a monitor used in traditional, laid-back mode.

The AG271QX is quite unique on the outside due to the large red V-shaped plastic cover on the back. I don’t know if this form, which is also a recurring form on the Quick Switch control panel, is the work of chance at this, or if they really tried to shape the victory signal on the monitor.

If I’ve already mentioned the Quick Switch panel, let’s take a closer look at what it is! Quick Switch is a switch panel that makes it easier to access the monitor's OSD menu, so you can change the setting even during short idles during play. In addition to the buttons for the menu, you will find three switches marked with a number. You think, we can set pre-programmed profiles here, so we can actually change the image on the monitor in one go, even while hunting.

As for the exterior, I haven’t talked about an extra, but all the more useful, yet, and that’s a tiny sling on the right back-top of the monitor. This is not an antenna, but a small “hook” on which you can hang your headphones after the game is over.

The external can be followed by the internal, that is, the specific hardware!
