Anatomy in HD

Some of the oldest and best anatomical drawings are named after Leonardo da Vinci.
doctor patient The Renaissance polyhistor was present many times at autopsies of people and animals (sometimes even cutting the bodies himself), and recorded his observations on richly annotated, detailed drawings. He also made realistic imprints of body parts by injecting molten wax into his skull and aortic valve and then studying their shape and function. However, his work could only proceed with interruptions, as he was hindered by the lack of autopsy bodies (which were mostly corpses of criminals) and by the Pope's provision prohibiting autopsy of human bodies. Despite their revolutionary nature, his drawings were not visible for 1519 years after his death in 400.

In the digital age, however, you no longer have to worry about papal anger or dissectable bodies. From physicians and professionals to avid amateurs and artists, anyone can get a sharp detail of the inside of the human body BodyMaps with a new application called GE and Healthline Networks. Developed specifically for the iPad Retina display, the app provides high-resolution three-dimensional images of more than 1000 body parts, tissues, bones, and organs, accompanied by a searchable index. Like Leonardo’s multi-view prints, users can rotate more than 30 body parts for a more in-depth view, and even switch between female and male bodies.
BodyMaps also includes 200 videos on various diseases, procedures and treatments, as well as a marking tool. Doctors and nurses can draw directly on the images and highlight the information for patients. The app can also manage social sites so users can share their tags or comments via email and Facebook.
