Samsung is announcing an application development competition

The goal of Samsung’s developer competition is to bring to life useful and interesting applications that simplify or make the daily life of homeowners of Samsung smartphones simpler.

In addition to the high-value cash prizes, Samsung will pre-install the winning applications on its phones sold in Hungary and make them available on devices previously purchased from service providers through a firmware update. 

The competition is open to individuals over the age of 18, registered as an individual or on behalf of a company, individually or as a team. The development environment is optional, but the organizer focuses on phones running the Android operating system. In all three categories, you can apply for a new or already running project or application idea:
- Applicants entering the first category should develop a simple application in terms of functionality, in which the user gets to all the functions of the program through a couple of screens. The ideal application requires neither an external data source nor regular maintenance, works from a stable database and is 99% offline. The main prize of the category is HUF 200.
- Complex applications launched in the second category address a wider need or problem and approach in a new or more practical form than the applications currently available. The application can even use an online database, but care must be taken to ensure its continuous and uninterrupted operation. The main prize of the category is 800 thousand forints.
- The applications in the third category implement complex ideas and are accompanied by a business plan. The ideal application can be used in countless ways. The freshness of the content, the data of the online database, the acquisition must all be included in the application. The main prize of the category is HUF 2 million.

During the two-week jury, representatives of Samsung and IDG will evaluate the applications with the involvement of experts. Those in the first category will be judged in the first round, while those starting in the other two will also have to prove their excellence in a personal presentation.
