AGP Radeon X1800 from Diamond Multimedia!

After skipping many years, good old Diamond Multimedia has recently returned to where it has always belonged: among the manufacturers of graphics controllers. However, at first they only dared to deal with simpler, dozens of products that bring a certain income, but now here is their first really significant product!

Although ATI Technologies did not officially want to release an AGP-coupled version of its Radeon X1800 series graphics cards, it did not prohibit its partners from making such a thing. A Diamond Multimedia browsing your website it is clear that they want to release more than just a PCI Express-based version of their Diamond Viper ATI Radeon X1800 cards.

We don’t know for sure yet whether the Radeon X1800 XL or XT version will be available for AGP, but it’s clear from the references there that they hope to buy it later this month.

Originally developed for the PCI Express interface, the R520 graphics chip, known as the ATI Rialto codenamed PCI Express - AGP bridge, can be used to create an instance with an older interface. This will obviously mean some extra costs, but happy users of the old type of systems will probably be happy to pay a few thousand forints more in order to further postpone the transition to replace the entire computer.

Since the NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series is not available for AGP at all, and is still the first known initiative on the ATI line for the time being, Diamond Multimedia is likely to gain a significant customer base with this move. We wish them to be that way and get to know the (probably) last really hit AGP card as soon as possible.
