Xiaomi wants to launch more than 10 new 5G phones next year
Bold plans, but they probably know what the people need.
Lei Jun, the company’s CEO, said some interesting things about the company’s plans for next year at a world internet conference in Wuzhen, China. He was the first to point out that the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro, which is currently only made for Chinese paic, the company’s first truly affordable 5G handset, produced better-than-expected sales figures. He did this despite the fact that 5G networks in China have not yet been launched, the start will be early next year.
Perhaps because of this, Xiaomi has decided to cover the entire portfolio with 5G-capable mobiles next year, meaning they will have 5G-capable phones in every segment, from the cheapest to the most expensive. This will mean more than 10 devices in number. Although Huawei has strengthened in China, Xiaomi expects this to be largely due to patriotic fervor over U.S. sanctions, and since the competitor will not have access to Google services, Xiaomin believes they could further strengthen their sales in the rest of the world. With regard to 5G, the only exception to this is India, because the 5G service has not yet been launched there.
