It is unfortunate, but again we are unable to provide encouraging information.

The HDD market is recovering more slowly than expected

Infrastructure damage caused by the floods in Thailand reached $ 45 billion despite efforts by manufacturers. Half a year after the disaster, the HDD market is still in poor shape. Analysts had previously expected the recovery to happen in the current quarter, but this was an overly optimistic stance.

IHS iSuppli estimates that the recovery could be slower than expected, which will of course have an impact on retail prices. In the first and second quarters, prices may fall by only three and nine percent, respectively.

Fang Zhang, a data storage analyst, said hard drive prices could not drop drastically as inventories begin to run out while demand still exceeds supply. The balance can only be restored in the third quarter.
