Seagate says there is no demand for 7200 rpm HDDs
It’s all about the fact that the era of 2,5-inch, 7200 rpm hard drives has passed, so it’s worth stopping their production.
Such drives have typically been found in high-performance laptops, but today SSD has become the lord. Seagate doesn’t (yet) have consumer flash memory storage, but it believes in hybrid solutions, so it is proud to offer solutions called Momentus XT.
It is worth noting that production of 5400 rpm, 2,5-inch HDDs will not stop.
