Sony Optiarc Europe is competing with Lite-On's wind-fast drives
Sony Optiarc Europe can burn DVDs at up to 24 × speed.
The AD-7240S branded SATA-connected device supports single-layer DVD-R / + R discs - Lite-On for roasters similarly - up to 24 ×, double layer 12 ×, DVD-RW 6 ×, DVD + RW 8 ×, DVD-RAM 12 ×, CD -R can burn up to 48 × and rewritable CD-RW at 32 ×.
Sony's Optiarc Europe product, with so-called Adaptive Self-Tuning technology, adapts the writing process to the characteristics of the media. The DVD burner, which comes with a two-year warranty, will go on sale this month at an unknown price.
