The past of the future - IT conference in Szeged

Today, the conference The Past of the Future - From Punch Card to the Information Society will be held in Szeged, with the participation of Marina von Neumann Whitman, daughter of János Neumann.

Lecture by Norbert Kroó, former vice-president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA), Zsolt Veres, IBM director, László Kutor, associate professor at the University of Óbuda, chairman of the János Neumann Computer Science Society (NJSZT) Informatics History Forum and László Z. Karvalics , professor at the University of Szeged. During the roundtable discussion, analysts Attila Szalay-Berzeviczy, Kornél Sarkadi Szabó and György Barcza are looking for answers to how to manage global panic reactions due to the development of IT tools and how to reduce their impact, the organizers told MTI.

The main patron of the event is József Pálinkás, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The guest of honor at the conference is Marina von Neumann, daughter of economist Whitman, former government adviser in Washington, John Neumann. Among other things, she presents her book The Daughter of the Martian, about John Neumann, who was born 110 years ago, and their relationship.

In connection with the conference, there is also an exhibition on the history of informatics, which presents Neumann relics not seen elsewhere, organized by the Neumann John Computer Science Society. [MTI]
