Green PC of the future, Fujitsu Siemens Computers - design competition

What will the Green PC of the future look like? How does eco-friendly technology fit into the original design? Fujitsu Siemens Computers, a pioneer in the development and manufacture of environmentally friendly PCs, is constantly looking for answers to these and similar questions - not only when designing its current products, but also when designing future models.

That’s why Europe’s leading IT vendor has launched a call for students at the University of Applied Science Munich to develop future concept plans for Green PC. During the summer semester of 2005, eight students submitted a work paper combining ecologically sound technology with an easy-to-service and reusable design. The three best, award-winning concept designs were also molded.

Gianni Ciotola, first prize: nipple shaping Green PC

Main characteristics:
- In nature, the bud protects its valuable contents.
- The folding side panels hide a quiet water-cooled system

Fujitsu Siemens Computers is a leader in the development of environmentally friendly PC technology. As early as next January, six months before the entry into force of the European Union's RoHS Directive, ESPRIMO professional PCs will meet strict regulations restricting the use of certain harmful substances in electrical and electronic equipment. By the beginning of 2006, AMILO Pro and LIFEBOOK notebooks and members of the SCENICVIEW monitor family will also meet the requirements of the above legislation. Fujitsu Siemens Computers has long placed sustainability and recyclability in product design. Developers receive regular training at the company’s recycling center in Paderborn, Germany.
