“Fujitsu did everything it could to deal with the disaster right after the earthquake,” pointed out Sogo Fujisaki, director of CSR’s office within Fujitsu’s PR organization. “We have made a full range of our resources available to restore community IT infrastructure and have also provided free cloud services in an emergency. We will continue our work during the restoration and reconstruction. It is a great honor for us that Computerworld has also recognized our efforts. ”

Alison Rowe, director of sustainability at Fujitsu Global Business Group, added: "Fujitsu is very proud to have been recognized for its role in mitigating the effects of the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami that hit the east coast of Japan."

Fujitsu set up a presidential-led disaster response center immediately after the earthquake to ensure the safety of the Group's employees and customers and to facilitate the collection of incident reports. In December 2011, it set up a separate business line to support the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the disaster-stricken region. The Fujitsu Group continues to work hard to improve its quality of life and to develop safe products and services that are resilient to natural disasters, making full use of its infocommunication capabilities.

“There is no question that technology plays a vital role in business development, ensuring organizations’ ability to innovate, communicate and grow. The example of Computerworld Honors laureates clearly demonstrates that technology also advances the development of society. Computerworld recognizes and celebrates the excellent work done by individuals and organizations like Fujitsu to use technology to improve the quality of life for today and future generations, ”said John Amato, Vice President and Publisher, Computerworld.

The Computerworld Honors Program awards will be officially presented on June 2012, 4.
