Served in ABIT mode in the digital home

What does the vision of the digital home mean in the public consciousness? Mostly to do everything from one place, say sitting in an armchair, at the touch of a button. In light of this, ABIT has created a tool that may bring us closer to this vision.

An interesting product was presented by ABIT this year Computex 2005 exhibition. Called the RM-11, the universal remote control really brings the image of the digital future into our homes. Although wormwood is a joy to be certain μGuru motherboards are ready to receive. However, like the “third eye” add-on, ABIT intends to add it to more of its pages at a later date.

What makes it interesting? Well, from the fact that it has a huge touch display on which you can find almost all the information about the current operation of our machine, from temperature data to the speed of the cooling fans. But not only can we see information, we can also influence its values! That is, you can use the remote control to set, for example, the current FSB speed or voltage values on the fly, or you can update the motherboard BIOS. Let’s say it’s conceivable what this would result in the hands of a lay user who would probably take his machine back to the seller’s shop for service after a week because he just wanted to quiet down the machine and it has been freezing ever since…

The other positive is that you can control everything that can be remotely controlled outside the machine, as it also functions as a universal teachable device. It could be a TV or a DVD player, everything is “eaten”. Of course, a proper platform is required to operate it, so only Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition is suitable for this purpose after installing the device's own driver.
