Dell is done with its G-Series TFT

Let's not think anything bad, since it is "only" a new monitor family.

The American manufacturer known for its (mainly) quality products has announced its brand new TFT series, which received the prefix "G" in baptism. When creating the new series, the engineers were able to work according to three basic principles: excellent (price/)performance, energy efficiency and environmentally friendly manufacturability. Compliance with the second characteristic was so successful that the G models consume approximately half as much as their "traditional" counterparts. "Environment-friendliness" is most evident in the fact that the new series has an extremely large number of certificates, and 25% of the monitors can be recycled if appropriate.

Initially, two models will be launched, the G2210 and G2410. We haven’t talked about the performance yet, which the designers want to improve primarily with LED backlighting. Let’s look at the other common features of the two delinquents: 5ms response time (not GtG!), 250 cd / m2 brightness, VGA and DVI connectors (the latter is HDCP compliant of course), real to 1000: 1 and 1 000: 000 dynamic contrast and 1 watts stand-by power consumption.

In the person of the G2210, we are dealing with a 22 - 1680 × 1050 resolution - i.e. 16:10 aspect ratio - competitor, which consumes only 18 watts during use. The G2410, on the other hand, boasts full HD resolution (1920 × 1080) at a 16: 9 aspect ratio, but it doesn’t pick up more than 20 watts from the network either.

The models, designed for the design of the UltraSharp series last year (before), are not expected to hit stores until the second half of February, and will ask for $ 280 and $ 360 overseas, respectively (we're afraid these numbers will be in Euros). We don't have information about the exact type of panel used, although with such a price tag - don't forget the LED backlight! - we suspect we will not face a high-end product.
