Canon has appointed a new leader to head the European, Middle Eastern and African business

Canon, known worldwide in the imaging solutions market, has announced that it has appointed Rokus van Iperen as President and CEO of its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, making it the company’s first European leader in the EMEA region.

Ryoichi Bamba, who previously held the position, will retire after forty years at Canon and four years in that position. 

“I am honored to be the first European to be entrusted with leading Canon’s EMEA region,” said Rokus van Iperen, President and CEO of Canon Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “I have always respected Canon for its world-class innovations and excellent business performance. Having worked closely with Canon in recent years, I look to the future with interest, in which the merger of Canon and Océ in the EMEA region and the continued growth of Canon's business throughout the region will be a priority. ”

Van Iperen joined Océ in 1978. After holding a number of positions in the R&D department, he became responsible for the printing systems business in 1989. He became managing director of Océ-Belgium NV from 1992 until he became a member of the board of directors of Océ NV in 1995. Van Iperen’s outstanding achievements included the acquisition and integration of Siemens Nixdorf’s printing division into Océ’s organization. The Dutch specialist graduated from the Technical University of Eindhoven.
