Here is Canon's HD PTZ camera for broadcast professionals

This week, it announced Canon’s BU-47H scanning camera, the best in its category.

Like its predecessor, the Canon BU-46H, the device is designed to reproduce images in very good quality and resolution. However, by enhancing and expanding many of the camera's features, such as video adjustment functions that can be fine-tuned to the user's needs and the way you shoot, it is especially suitable for the broadcast market.

Featuring broadcast quality and Full HD video with image stabilization, the rugged camera is ideal for outdoor shots in the most challenging environments.

The new Canon BU-47H offers Full HD (1920 × 1080 pixels) resolution with three CMOS sensors, capable of capturing a total of 2,37 megapixels. Canon HD Zoom Lens delivers 18x optical zoom and autofocus with a zoom range from 7,4mm wide angle to 134mm full position (2/3 ”equivalent) with 4,1-73,8mm focal length . With a minimum brightness of 0,08 lux, the subject can be shot with a brightness level that already corresponds to moonlight (0,5–1 lux).

 

Professional, fine video and image quality settings can be adjusted with the OP dial. With a brand new function, the following parameters can also be set via an ECU (electronic control) function (only OP-450 / U-4 protocol is supported): Gamma, black gamma, master pedestal (dark detail enhancement), knee (curve refraction), setting level, 100% crop, sharpness level, sharpness horizontal bar, sharpness horizontal / vertical balance, sharpness limits, sharpness selection, bright video signal compression ratio, brightness-adaptive sharpness, image noise reduction level, brightness-adaptive image noise filtering, noise reduction, skin color, selective noise , low-key saturation, color matrix, color enhancement, hue, white balance, color correction.

Image stabilization minimizes camera shake even in high winds. Built specifically for great outdoor images, the BU-47H’s IP45 water and dust protection rating means it is resistant to low-pressure water jets and solids larger than 1 mm in all directions. A wiper accessory is also available.
Thanks to its compact size and light weight (approx. 17 kg), the camera can be installed almost anywhere and is easy to carry when recording outdoor programs.

 

The BU-47H supports the NU protocol to be highly compatible with existing systems and reduce implementation costs. Many different systems can be designed, such as short-range and long-range control, depending on the installation environment.

Many types of applications are also supported with a variety of interfaces. The camera uses SDI signals, so no separate audio cable is required.
