Sony has sold 70 million PS3s so far
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. today announced that the PlayStation 3 has reached 70 million sales.
Sales of the PS3 have been going on for six years now, but it seems the manufacturer is in no hurry to introduce the successor, preferring to try to further improve the gaming experience. To that end, the PlayStation Move motion-sensing controller was created, which can be found in stores for two years and during that time has hosted more than 15 million of them.
So the PS3 hasn’t reached the end of its life cycle, but it has evolved a lot since its release. Smaller size, lower power consumption, more hard drive capacity to name just the most significant changes. The volume of the latest model, released in September this year, is only 50 percent of the original console released six years ago.
