5,25 VGA power supply from FSP

Fortron SourcePower has designed its new power supply for video cards with a growing appetite.

Modern graphics drivers, such as the ATI Radeon X1900 series or the NVIDIA GeForce 7900, are slowly consuming as much as a full desktop used to be. The 120-watt power consumption per card can sweat even larger power supplies, especially when talking about a dual SLI or CrossFire system, and the soon-to-be-purchased tetra SLI is better not to mention.

To eliminate this problem, FSP has announced a new product. With its specially designed circuits for VGAs, it can deliver 300 Watts (12 Volt 25 Ampere) - this will satisfy even the most ambitious needs. The idea is true, not new, in some CoolerMaster housings we have already observed a design that leaves room for two separate ATX power supplies, but the spool shown below doesn’t even require that.

The otherwise active PFC power supply, which is still sounding unnamed, can be operated from all kinds of mains up to 100-240 Volt, and is ventilated by two temperature-controlled 40 mm fans. Blue LEDs have also been built into the edges of the plastic front panel, so you can also add one to the optical tuning if you buy it.

The introduction is expected at CeBIT, unfortunately the price will remain unknown until then.
