Telenor is accelerating to 42 Mbps

Telenor is accelerating to 42 MbpsTelenor is accelerating Hipernet's service to 21 Mbps, twice the originally announced 42 Mbps.

After the migration to 584 base stations as part of the network development, mobile broadband with faster and higher capacity than ever before, with a maximum maximum download speed of up to 42 Mbps, is available in and around the capital. With this, Telenor Hungary currently has the most extensive HSPA + network in Hungary.

Telenor has reached one of the most important milestones in Hungary's network development project by launching a nominal maximum data rate of 42 Mbps. The service is twice as fast as the previously announced 21 Mbps in Budapest and the surrounding settlements in Budaörs, Törökbálint, Érd, Pilisvörösvár, Solymár, Soroksár, Százhalombatta, Szentendre, Szigethalom, Szigetmonostor, Szigetszentmikló, Szigetszentmikló They are launched in Pilisborosjenő, Pomáz, Szigetújfalu, Taksony and Tököl. To date, Telenor has enabled and tested technology with a nominal maximum download speed of 584 Mbps and an upload speed of 42 Mbps at 5,76 base stations to supply Hipernet in these areas.

“As a result of our network development, not only will the speed of data traffic increase, but the capacity of the stations will also double: thanks to the increased radio resources, they will be able to serve more customers at the same time, with better quality and more stable. As a result, the quality of service in the areas connected to the new network, which do not yet have Hipernet-enabled devices, will also be improved. ” - emphasized József Huszlicska, Telenor's Deputy Chief Technical Officer, regarding the introduction of the technology.

With a nominal download speed of 42 Mbps, Hipernet is a real alternative to the fixed service, enabling uncompromising Internet access for Telenor subscribers almost anywhere, anytime. Thus, in line with the government's goals, Telenor contributes to the catching-up of lagging areas, the elimination of digital illiteracy, and the improvement of the country's competitiveness by developing its net network at a list price of HUF 53 billion. According to a survey by Boston Consulting Group, mobile broadband penetration is making a significant contribution to job creation: by 2020, 88 new jobs could be created and up to 44 new businesses could be created as a result. In addition, the growth of mobile internet penetration is helping the development of the education and creative industries and the spread of e-government initiatives.

Together with the launch of the Hipernet service, Telenor will place special emphasis on making the mobile devices and offers required to use the new network available. The company will provide details on this shortly. Regarding the network speed, it is important to note that the maximum speed of 42 Mbps is a nominal value, which depends on the availability of the network technology providing the service in the given area, the presence of a device that supports it, and the current network load.
