32GB SSD from SanDisk

SanDisk has entered the SSD market with a 32GB 1,8-inch device.

The SanDisk SSD UATA 5000 does not contain any moving parts, so it is not only lighter than traditional hard drives with similar size characteristics, but also much quieter than them, as its noise emission value is zero. In addition, its consumption is also lower, 0,4 W compared to the value of around 1 watt for "ordinary" HDDs of the same size.

The 1,8-inch SSD has a read speed of 62 MB per second, an average file access time of 0,12 milliseconds, and a download of Windows Vista Enterprise that takes about 32 seconds. Notebooks will introduce SanDisk flash memory-based Solid State Disk drives in the first half of 2007 at the earliest.
