2013 in numbers: smartphones, tablets and cameras

According to its own sales data and GfK surveys, Samsung has been in the smartphone, tablet and camera market this year: in October 2013, every second smartphone sold in Hungary was a Samsung brand, with Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 WiFi (P3110) being the most prominent representative of the tablet market. model this year, and Samsung was able to multiply its turnover in 2013 in the stagnant photographer market as well.

Smartphones: Conquering the Larger Size

According to Samsung Electronics Magyar Zrt.'s own sales data, while at the beginning of the year smartphones with 3 to 4 inch diagonals were the driving force in the Hungarian market, by the end of the year the 4 to 5 inch category had clearly taken over. This trend is also supported by GfK's measurements, so mid-range devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S Advance and the Samsung Galaxy SIII may have been among the best-selling smartphones in Hungary in their statements. This is also due to the fact that Samsung achieved a huge success in October 2013, with a 50 percent share of the smartphone market in Hungary: this month, every second smartphone sold came out of Samsung's portfolio (according to a GfK survey).

“In 2014, one of the key challenges for market players will be to make it increasingly easy to manage increasingly smart devices. The key to the success of Samsung devices has been the well-used TouchWiz interface, which will be further developed next year, ”said Balázs Kunos, Director of Samsung's Mobile and IT Business.

Tablets: the year of the explosion

This year, the Hungarian tablet market has grown fivefold compared to the previous year in terms of the number of units sold. 7-inch WiFi-enabled devices are still the most sought-after devices in Hungary, so one such Samsung product was the most successful: according to GfK, every ninth tablet purchased in the first 2013 months of 10 is Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 WiFi (P3110) (with a market share of 11,7% on its own).

“We expect 2013 to be the year of tablets after 2014, as the role of notebooks, which are gradually declining in homes, is constantly being taken over by tablets that are more practical and easier to use for many. For the time being, a small proportion of Hungarian households - according to the eNet survey - 15% of Internet users - have such a device, so further expansion of these smart devices is expected in line with Western trends. And we want to conquer the growing market with our value-added extras such as free or discounted apps from Samsung Apps, a wide range of factory accessories, free training at the Samsung Allee Experience Store or premium service on some of our models. ” - Balázs Kunos summed up.

Cameras: multiplied traffic in a stagnant market

2013 was clearly the year of Samsung in Hungary in the camera market. While the market is showing signs of stagnation or decline year after year due to mobile phones endowed with ever-improving imaging capabilities, Samsung has been able to multiply the turnover of its cameras. The key to this was clearly the increase in demand for SMART cameras. The strength of these tools is the ability to instantly edit images or upload them to online image shares or repositories. This year was also exciting in terms of innovations, as the company was the first to introduce a 3D interchangeable lens (Samsung 45mm 2D / 3D NX Lens), an Android, interchangeable lens compact camera (Samsung Galaxy NX) and a smartphone with a 4x optical zoom (Samsung Galaxy SXNUMX Zoom).

“In 2014, Samsung devices will be expanded with additional SMART features, while the product line will be enriched with more exciting products. Despite the shrinking digital camera market, we believe that digital imaging in the broadest sense will be a key area for the future, and Samsung wants to be at the forefront of developing them, ”Balázs Kunos outlined his ideas for 2014.
