1TB Hitachi hard drives later this year

Hitachi envisions to see 3,5-inch thousands of gigabytes of hard drives coming out later this year.

Bill Healy, president of Hitachi’s product strategy division, said the company’s 1-terabyte hard drives for desktops will be available to anyone before the end of this year, and added that the capacity of magnetic media will always double every two years.

Currently, Seagate's 750 GB HDD is the flagship, which has been available for purchase since April, while Hitachi's device with the largest capacity is "only" 500 gigabytes. Of course, there are already several storage units that have reached 1 TB by using several hard drives together, but they can all be connected externally tools.
