Spring THIS + AZ from Scythe
KAMA Jacket 2.5
Has anyone seen a KAMA brand jacket? If not, this is a great time to check it out! True, we’re going to have a hard time pulling on this jacket, but Scythe wasn’t designed for that either. It can be used much more for 2,5-inch, ie notebook hard disks on my little one - after Ferenc Móra.
In addition to the rubber cover of the storage, the package also includes a cable and a connector, from which it becomes immediately clear that here we get not only a knock protection, but also a complete interface with which we can connect small vignettes to our machine via USB. One end of the cable that connects to the hard drive is mini-USB and the other is two standard USB connectors. Two because power is also provided through the USB ports.
The only flaw in the structure is that it cannot be used for newer (not even older) SATA interface devices, only the PATA interface plays in this case. We would be very surprised if we didn’t get a SATA interface from it soon. For those who still have such a hard drive, the Scythe package is definitely a good solution, as they can conjure up a simple, non-powered portable storage device from vines that are no longer in use.
KAMA Bay Speaker
The name doesn’t lie, we’ve arrived at the most interesting product in our show, a front-facing speaker with Scythe’s name on it. This is not the only sound-producing device of the Japanese manufacturer, on our pages our readers have already come across an amplifier called KAMA Bay Amp, with which our colleague with a carved ear (really 🙂) was satisfied.
We’re pretty skeptical about this gadget, but we’re giving it a chance to convince us. But before we try, let’s take a closer look!
According to the manufacturer's data sheet, the little one knows twice 1,5 watts, but since there are four metal diaphragm speakers on the front panel, it is suspected that two of these belong to one side. On the front panel, next to the sound generators, you will find an on / off button and a volume control. A headphone output would have fit yet, we don’t even understand why it was saved.
Installation and connection are easy. The 5,25-inch slot can be attached to the computer case with four screws, and the signal can be obtained from the rear audio output via a mini-jack cable. To get the cable out, we also get a perforated back cover, which can be screwed to the expansion cards, so that the string is pulled out of our machine in a demanding way.
Once the visual inspection was done, the rehearsal could come. Eating is pudding, listening to music is the speaker. What can we say about it if we want to be short? That's what it says. Surprisingly, it doesn’t sound so bad, in fact, it’s orders of magnitude better than we expected. I would add, we didn’t expect too much.
So the point is that two and a half watts is enough to bring the performance and quality of a smaller pair of desktop speakers. True, we can’t put this on both sides of the monitor, so the stereo experience lags far behind, but let’s face it, being stereo these days isn’t a big bang anymore.
What is certain is that it is a great replacement for smaller sound generators that can be placed on the table, which has the great advantage that it does not take up space on the table, it does not need an additional power supply and some cables that wrap around the table. I would choose this in an office machine if it had a headphone output on it. We hope they are not forgotten from the next generation.
One more important figure to the end. Although we got the white front panel from it, the KAMA Bay Speaker, as the pictures show, also exists in black and silver, so we can find a color that matches almost any house.
