Introducing: RASURBO, the new player

We find no less than five different groups. These are the Basic, Silent, ECO, Gaming and REAL Power families, in that order.

There are not many differences between the power supplies for each family. According to the data, the only difference between the Basic and Silent families is the quality of the fan, more precisely its silence. Let's say this, of course, so that we could not examine the interior, we only rely on the data provided by the manufacturer. In the case of the Silent, this can still be more or less a heatsink, as well as a different PCB design, so that the slower fan provides adequate ventilation.

In the case of ECO Power, we were surprised to find that no orphaned 80+ markings were found in the description, although for some reason we feel that this should be the minimum for a solution called ECO these days. What makes ECO ECO then? Well, from having less than 1 watt of power consumption in standby mode, and of course from having green on your box. The first trait is more important to us, but let’s face it, we can’t fall back on that.

At first glance, the Gaming series differs from the cheaper counterparts only in the color of the cover, but we can also discover other differences by browsing the technical description. By way of example, we can finally read here that Power factor correction (PFC), Overvoltage protection (OVP), Overpower protection (OPP). In addition, we find not one, but two 12-volt branches, the cables are also longer than the units discussed so far.

The pinnacle of power is the REAL Power family. For machine builders, the solutions we have had so far are certainly suitable for use, but for those of us who are a little too pampered, these feeds are an alternative to products from other manufacturers. 80+ stickers, and even according to the manufacturer, it is characterized by an efficiency of over 85%, all kinds of protection, and even finally active PFC. There’s just icing on the cake with the fan producing just 16 dBA of noise. The only slightly incomprehensible moment is that the most powerful power supply from the REAL Power family is only 650 watts. True, this is enough for 90 percent of the peoples, but it would still be appropriate to keep a real premium unit on offer, if for no other reason to increase the prestige of the brand. Well, but we’re not decision makers at RASURBO, they certainly know better what makes a fly die.
