The latest release of the browser will deal with unwanted pages. It was time to step in.

Google Chrome 65 made an important change

We’ve read the good news on Chrome’s official release channel that the app is finally blocking pop-under pop-ups - a technique very often used by malicious, but at least not exactly noble, websites. It’s all about exactly when a URL opens on a new tab after a click, while we may have already read some kind of toast ad on the original page. In practice, this is the main innovation, but there have also been a number of security fixes, and developers have been given some goodies: the new Chrome Server Timing API and CSS Paint API support.

Material Design now pays homage to the Extensions tab as well.

It’s also worth mentioning that tree icons will now appear in the omnibox drop-down menu, making it presumably easier to navigate through search suggestions.

Users using the desktop version can start the update by opening chrome: // settings / help, which has a version number of 65.0.3325.146.
