Xiaomi smart cooker and smart micro - the real endurance test!

They’ve worked or are rubbish, I’ve been skinning them for a year, it’s time to evaluate.

Introductory

I like to cook for my manhood. It’s a great way to turn off my brain, put down work, stress for a few hours, make a delicious stew, a good broth, or one of my favorite Chinese dishes. Those who know me were not surprised that last year, exactly a year and two months ago, I surprised myself with two Xiaomi smart gadgets, a kettle and a micro.

Now that the first year has passed, I thought it was time to look a little more closely at the nails of the stuff. Are there any damage, any discoloration of the plastic, or scratches on the anti-stick coating. So, it’s a real endurance test now, gathering a year of experience and kneading into writing.

Needless to say, I wrote an article about both tools last year before Christmas, so before you move on, I strongly recommend that you read these as well. I tried to do a thorough test even if you liked to cook, then I think you will appreciate these writings:

Let’s start with the less interesting stuff, the micro. Already last year, this was the product I couldn’t tell too much about, as it’s just a micro, true, it’s a bit crazy like all of Xiaomi’s products.

On the other hand, this is what we use every day, several times a day, and while it’s really not very eye-catching, it’s still what I’ve really loved over the past year.

For my passion (it’s no exaggeration to use that word), there are several reasons, some that come in handy in everyday use. I’ve described in the article, and I continue to hold it, that not having a turntable in it is a real blessing.

It is a blessing because although its capacity is not very large, I can still put much larger dishes than in a turntable because it does not rotate, it does not get stuck. The lack of a plate is another huge invention because of one thing, and that is cleaning!

This is the point that a short test doesn’t really shed light on, but if you use it every day, you’ll feel a huge blessing. Yes, I also forget to put the “lid” on the food to be heated, and in that case, of course, it is able to spray the interior with all sorts of oily, greasy drops. Normally, this is when a turntable, the star under the plate, goes into the sink, from the hollow part below, and of course you can scratch the dirt everywhere.

The Xiaomi micro, on the other hand, has only a glass plate at the bottom, which one wipes with a single motion. Inside, nowhere else are there protruding, sharper-edged surfaces, no matter how dirty the inside of the structure is, a few minutes and everything shines.

The lack of a turntable is also good for other reasons, and that is an advantage that I have already described in the test. The Xiaomi micro heats up amazingly evenly. There is no problem with putting in a plate of soup, and the juice is hot next to the plate and the wall of the plate, with pieces of ice floating in the middle.

The truth is that this is amazingly even, only compared to the turntables, because there is a temperature difference here too, but on the one hand the plate doesn't heat up so much that I can only take it out with gloves or kitchen towels, on the other hand the food doesn't stay cold inside, so a stir with the spoon and my soup is at an edible temperature everywhere.

I also wrote about melting in the test a year ago, which is also a point I need to highlight as a good feature.

Melting in a Xiaomi micro is not like a traditional one. Who hasn't encountered the fact that the stuffed, frozen chicken meat, especially say wings, boils at the ends and on the outside, and is still icy on the inside.

Xiaomi's technology solves this as well. Not one percent, but a good 90-95 percent sure. By the time the meat melts, only the very tips, such as the very end of the wing, will have a slightly more cooked, otherwise ready-to-cook, raw meat.

Cleveness

Well, this is a feature I rarely use. I already have in my hand which button I can use to adjust what, so I don’t really have to take out the phone for treatment. Sure, the good thing is that I can sit down to work while, say, going to the melting, and then, when done, then micro sends a push message to complete the operation, but other than that, there’s not much use to the thing.

I still consider the micro unsuitable for cooking. Not the micro of the Xiaomi, but all the micros in general, except maybe the kind that has barbecue facilities, but I don't really like them either. So, let’s forget about the cooking function, even if Xiaomi includes some recipes in the app.

What is even more useful is sterilization. Although our colognes have already got used to the baby bottle, while we were pacifying, this feature came in handy.

Durable

Beyond this year, we’re also on a big move, so you can safely call it hard, the real question is how scratched it is, for example. Well, not at all.

Of course, we also keep it clean inside and out, but there is no trace of scratches on the cover or painting, the painting is not discolored, the inner tempered glass sheet would be rough if it were scratched.

So, the machine is just like when I took it out of the box. The glossy plastic parts, the painted metal parts, and so on are all.

Of course, it’s also true that I don’t clean it with a metal trowel, but I wipe it dry with a sponge of detergent, then a soft cloth, so at most the plates and other utensils could leave a mark, but like I said, it would be weird if I could scratch tempered glass. So far it has not succeeded.

Summary

As I wrote, it’s not a rabidly interesting structure, it’s just a micro, but we loved it very much because of its properties mentioned above. Even my couple, who were initially worried about Chinese subtitles, don’t have a word today.

It is simple to handle and very easy to get used to, the melting functions of the heating are close to perfect, it is also easy to clean, so we loved it very much.

The cookie is obviously not a tool I use every day, although there may be a reader here who would cook something in it every day. I wouldn't be surprised at that either!

This is because the kettle as a cooking skill is a good thing, and Xiaomi's kettle with its smart features just puts it on it with a shovel. I took these things out in the original article so I won’t write any more litany about it.

I find it important to reaffirm that, due to the Chinese subtitled buttons, to this day I prefer the application rather than the most obvious, simplest solution. From here I set the cooking time, the type of meat to be cooked, i.e. everything.

A year ago, when I bought it, I fell victim to a bit of a mistake because I originally wanted a larger-capacity rice cooker. I thought if anyone could cook rice, the Chinese would know for sure. Well, I didn't have to be disappointed in that.

However, it turned out that I was not buying a rice cooker but a kettle. I was annoyed by this for about 5 minutes, and then I saw the benefit of the thing, which I have enjoyed ever since, which is that I can cook almost anything in it.

There are plenty of casserole recipes available and I can put together awful delicious stews and soups in a sec minute, but the point for me is still the quality of Chinese food that this structure knows very well.

I used to make such dishes in wok, authentic cast iron wok. It was important for the rice noodles to blush well to take on the taste of the soy sauce well. It was important for the vegetables to cook but to stay crisp. It was important that the rice did not boil, but still be a little sticky and not accidentally dry, simmering. These are the things you need for good Far Eastern food.

Xiaomi’s kettle has them all, and what’s a huge advantage over a wok is that I don’t splash the kitchen full. 😊 I hate to clean up after myself, and using the kettle, there is no need to do so, as it is enough to wash the condenser, wipe it with a sponge, and wipe the inside of the top of the dish with a sponge for detergent. That's all the cleaning.

When I started using the machine, I thought it would always be out on the counter, under power, so it would always be there in the MI Home app on my phone as an active smart device. In the meantime, it turned out to make no sense for this beef, so we moved into the closet and only turn it on if I want to cook. That way, you don’t eat electricity either, until you have to wait for the next task.

Durability

Well, the pictures might show that I'm really using this. This, of course, isn’t good because it could eat as spotless as a micro, but the mixes, even if I use the plastic tools that came with it, leave a mark on the non-stick coating.

There are also a couple of scratches that seem deeper next to the hair scratches, but they’re probably not too deep either, only on the black surface my eyes cheat. I think this is that despite the many uses, the metallic part of the bucket didn’t stand out anywhere, the adhesion resistance is as perfect as it was in the first use.

Paint wear is only experienced on the outside, and only where it touches the metal temperature sensor on the bottom of the inside.

The other part, where the use has left some, albeit minimal, traces, is the pressure regulator. You know, it’s the heavy cap that’s on top of regular kettles, too. Since greasy steam leaves here during cooking, this clue is great. It’s both hot and “dirty,” so that’s not surprising. As you will hopefully see in the pictures, the problem really isn’t cardinal, but I thought I’d mention it. After all, it's a endurance test.

In other parts of the structure, on the plastics, there is no scratches or discoloration. The kettle is easy to clean, no need to rub, lukewarm water and a little detergent on the sponge, dirt can be easily wiped off everywhere.

Here, of course, there are protruding parts that are a little harder to clean, unlike the mic, but that’s a minimal problem.

Summary

It’s no exaggeration to say, the cauldron is just as much, if not better, than it was during the first cooking. Okay, the initial crazy enthusiasm is a thing of the past, as I know what I can do and how I can make it, so it has become more of a routine.

What is left, however, is the adoration of the finished food. Juicy, crumbly meats, crazy good Chinese food, and masterfully prepared rice, these have survived, so to this day I’m happy to take it out of the closet, and at that time, of course, not only I’m happy, but the family as well. 😊

No exaggeration, I haven’t made bad food with this kettle yet. Everything is ready quickly, it is also delicious, cleaning is easy, what else can a man who loves to cook need? Nothing!

Closing Remarks

I use a lot of Xiaomi products, from cheap wired earbuds to kitchen utensils, and of course, the number of people will expand this Christmas as well, there will be one or two bigger pieces, but I will write an article about these anyway and then you can read them.

The point is, I haven’t had to be disappointed with any Xiaomi stuff so far. I have had a Xiaomi notebook for three years, and everyone has admired it ever since, and I really enjoy working on it. I have had a Xiaomi lamp on my desk for at least three years, I wear Xiaomi shoes, I did a construction in one of them. In the end, I threw it in the washing machine, washed it out, and no one would tell me that I was scraping the wall in it.

So Xiaomi stuff is good, and not only good as long as I write a test of it in their new age, but they are for years, no matter how vile their fate.

The cooker and micro mentioned in the article are the same. Although they have only been with me for “only” a year, I am sure they will serve us for many years to come. They weren’t cheap, but as they say, cheap meat is diluted with juice. They weren’t expensive either, at least when I look at what they know and what quality they represent.

Xiaomi usually gives the maximum, and with a quality that competing manufacturers measure much more expensive, so it’s worth sacrificing those few extra dollars or forints over them compared to a noname manufacturer.
