Xiaomi LIVEN deep fryer without the smell of oil
Cheap oven with good capabilities from a reputable manufacturer.

Introductory
It turned out last year that I was able to test two oil-free deep fryers from BlitzWolf (BlitzHome), and one has lived with us ever since, and even comes out of the closet several times a week. Proven in Hungarian, and not a little.
I’ve been looking at ovens on the market ever since, no secret, I want to do similar tests. I like to bake, cook, I like delicious flavors, and it’s not very far from me to make these.
Liven, as who knows what kind of affiliated company’s ovens have already caught my attention, but I found them expensive. Now, however, a few pieces from the larger frit arrived at the Polish warehouse, and they were given a very good price. I even slammed it down.
In this article, I’m going to tell you about this oven, and of course I’ll compare it to BlitzWolf products here and there. Let's hit it!
Exterior and accessories
The structure called LIVEN KZ-D5500 looks very good in the pictures. In shape, the BlitzHome is similar to the BH-AF2, but while the latter’s buttons are on top, at the top of the front. Beneath it is a lattice pattern in plastic, the rest of the machine has a glossy black casing. Of course, we find thermosetting plastic everywhere, but this is evident in an oven.
The structure stands on four legs, there is only one outlet for the hot air at the back. What’s perhaps even more interesting is the matte metal cladding on the roof, which looks good, but will already be stained from our touch. Luckily it is easy to clean, we just don’t want to scrub, I don’t think it would be good for the surface.
The cart is in the usual place. He wants to jump out of his seat a little hard at first, but he gets in soon.
Here, too, the basket consists of two parts, an inner perforated piece and an outer closed one. This is important because:
- Fat does not stop under the meat
- The air to be baked can be better surrounded by warm air
The two parts can be disassembled, of course, you can put them in the dishwasher (at least I used to do them), but if you think you’d just wash it, that’s how it works. The structure is easy to clean.
That's the outside. Although I put accessories in the title of the chapter, there really aren’t any. We find a little thing in the box, an adapter for a Chinese plug so we can plug it into an EU outlet as well.
It is important that the socket adapter supplied with the oven is unusable, so it is worth looking for a cheap one in the store or looking for one at home. These are called Travel Adapters.
The paper form can come, which is what the oven knows as described.
Specification
Well, the machine on paper is better than the BlitzHome, as it is 1500 watts instead of 1700, and the basket has a capacity of 5 liters instead of 5,5. These are very good values, the structures available at similar prices in domestic stores are usually 2-3 liters. In practice, this means that the small ones will be good for feeding a maximum of 1-2 people, while the larger ones will be good for 3-4 people, or up to 5 people, depending on the type of food.
Of course, this oven also allows oil-free frying (I’ll write about that later), circulating warm air inside. This warm can be selected from 60 degrees to 200 degrees. The baking time can be set in the same way, using the panel on the front panel.
There are touch-sensitive buttons on the panel, which is also good if nothing else for cleaning. So in this panel you can set the baking time and temperature, but you can also choose from seven preset profiles.
Importantly, this oven is not smart. It has no wifi or Bluetooth, so it can't fit into a smart home. I would add, for me this is not a disadvantage, BlitzHome ovens are in vain since I took the test I haven’t controlled them from my phone. It's unnecessary, at least for me.
We have also gone beyond this chapter, the most important thing is usage!
Use and experience
The first thing I need to mention is that the quality of the plastics, the assembly of the oven is good, say flawless, but still not a Xiaomi. I would expect a little more from a Xiaom. Even though the basket came in quickly, I didn’t like having to squat for the first few times. A rather strange solution is also the transparent slider on the top of the handle, which protects against accidentally lifting the inner basket from the outside.
So the exterior and material usage is pretty much the same as with BlitzHome, which isn’t bad (not at all), but not even a Xiaomi. Let's say the price isn't the same, but that's at the end of the article.
The machine is easy to use, the pictograms are easy to understand, so there is no problem with that, in fact. Setting the temperature and time is easy, both starting and stopping are good things. Baking, of course, stops if we take out the basket to turn the meat, for example.
Well, in the case of an oven, the most important thing is to bake. In that regard, I wouldn’t dare announce a winner in a battle against BlitzHome vs. Xiaomi Liven, even if there’s some difference.
Let’s start there, in my opinion, the 1700s vs. 1500 watts of battle is completely pointless, as the temperature is regulated (maximum 200 degrees), so the only difference is how quickly the basket heats up the basket, more precisely the air in the two ovens, and how well we can keep them at the right temperature.
If it were minus twenty degrees outside the oven, I could feel the benefits of the extra 200 watts, but not at room temperature. Plus, the BlitzHome basket is half a liter smaller.
If you already have a basket size. That half liter is like it isn't. If something decides whether BlitzHome or Liven is better, that’s the shape of the basket, and Liven definitely wins. Less tall but larger in floor space. In practice, this means that in the case of bulk things (eg french fries) the shape is completely the same, until, for example, in the case of fried meat and patties, the larger area is better, we can put more pieces without overlapping.
In terms of baking quality or rather speed, Liven is a little worse. Maybe the design of the basket doesn’t involve so much air, but I wouldn’t dare say that for sure, just a guess. However, in the case of Liven, you need to pay more attention to turning the fried meat at least once, but rather twice during frying, otherwise the bottom will not be as crispy as the top. There is no difference between French fries.
In this test, I fried hake trunks, boat potatoes, fried cheese and fried chicken slices. Virtually two lunches were prepared partly in the oven.
Everything went well. For potatoes, the preset profile was correct. In the case of the hake trunk, one of the fish was not fried using the fish fry profile, let’s say it was quite thick. The point is to pay attention to this, we cannot rely on the set baking mode.
The fried cheese doesn't have a profile, I chose the meat here, which of course became a bit much, the melt flowed out of the fur. At least for the first dose, I was already in the gap for the second, it worked flawlessly. The fried chicken slices were good for choosing the meat profile, I flipped the slices once in half.
It’s important that this oven doesn’t thrive either if we don’t use a very tiny oil. There is a little oil in the fur of deep-frozen fur products, we don’t have to do that. You don’t need it for frozen potatoes or frozen patties either. On the other hand, if we are frying the meat, we should smear the fur very thinly with a food brush after we start baking. Doing so will be perfect.
This oiling was also good for the fried fish. Once smeared, I got fine crunchy skin, but without oil, the outer layer of the meat dried out.
Fortunately, such a small amount of oiling has no or very minimal oil odor, which is not measurable for frying in oil.
Summary
The LIVEN KZ-D5500 is a good oven, but not as good as you'd expect from the Xiaomi name. Let's just say it's just like BlitzHome. Not only in terms of quality and price, these two structures are pretty much the same, at least for now, because according to my recent information, if the current Polish stock runs out, we will get another LIVEN stock at a higher price.
There are no defects in the materials and assembly of the machine, the quality of the baking is also good. The size and shape of the basket tilts the tongue of the balance towards the Liven, however, the fact that it does not have an EU plug favors BlitzHome. True, this is a solvable problem, it’s not a great adventure to replace the cable, but we’re better off with a lower quality converter even if we just cut the plug and replace it with an EU compliant one.
I note we don’t accidentally use cast plug cables, so if someone replaces the plug at their own risk, I don’t recommend it, I can’t recommend it.
So the point is, if someone wants a more reputable machine to hit the Liven quickly, they won’t regret it. If, on the other hand, Liven runs out, or you just want to save a few thousand forints, stay tuned for BlitzHome BH-AF2, which is just as good as Xiaomi Liven, and even smart.
