Xiaomi FIMI X8 SE - DJI MAvic Pro killer drone at half price

Xiaomi replaces its old drone, and the new one offers much more at the same price.

The new propeller vehicle is finally adapting to new trends and we get a structure with folding arms. The range of capabilities is quite wide, the flight time is also long, however, the new drone is more competitive with the cheaper Mavic Pro 2 and the first version of Mavic Pro, moreover, since we get very tough competition at half price.

The Xiaomi FIMI X8 SE Lightweight, at just 790 grams, has GPS and GLONASS support, and the camera tops a 3-axis gimbal. There will be no complaints about speed or range either, as according to factory data we can fly up to 5 kilometers and its maximum speed can reach 18 meters per second, which means a speed of almost 65 kilometers per hour. The Xiaomi FIMI X8 SE also has visual sensors, so it can even be used indoors.

We’ve talked about the camera before, but it’s worth taking a closer look. As you can read there should be no problem with positioning, the gimbal has 3 axes, so we can rotate it sideways and of course tilt it. The camera features a Sony IMX378 sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels. As a result, you can shoot up to 4K resolution at 30 FPS image refresh rate. The optics above the sensor have a 78,8 degree viewing angle.

The drone also got a whole new remote control. In my opinion, we can put our phone in this in a more ingenious way than the DJI, which would function as a display during control. Not only has the remote control hardware changed, but the flight control software has also been completely revamped.

The price is the same as the price of the old version, and its capabilities are reminiscent of the DJI Mavic Pro, in fact, the software capabilities and camera capabilities, the various modes, exceed the capabilities of the first version of the Mavic Pro. But while DJI helicopters hurt at $ 1000-1200, the new Xiaomi drone costs only half, $ 500.
