Xiaomi Cottonsmith Heated Jacket Test - Introduction
I already wrote about a Xiaomi jacket last November, but I ordered it more than a year ago, and mostly as a car jacket, in which I’m not going to get cold even if I have to get out in jagging time.
The garment presented in this article is made for a completely different purpose. After the shorter-cut Xiaomi, I have already decided that I need one that I will wear specifically for outdoor time. Since I have two three-year-old sons I knew it would be inevitable for me to spend more time outside, especially when it was snowing a bit.
Since I don’t have too much experience in this area, I asked my Banggoodos contact to recommend something that isn’t too expensive but has a good experience with it. He suggested the Cottonsmith jacket so I bought it.
I shoot the joke, I did well because this jacket is quite brilliant.
External
The tailoring is quite different from the other Xiaomin. This jacket is longer and feels a little thicker. It is available in three colors, black, blue and red. I bought black, based on the pictures I dare to recommend red even for ladies, because the tailoring is unisex.
The bottom of my back reaches me down until my thighs and buttocks meet, so it protects me very well from the cold. The fingers have an elastic interior at the wrist, which does not let in cold at this point either.
If that weren’t enough, we’ll also find a velcro strap at the wrist section to tighten the sleeve of the jacket.
It can be patented at the neck, so if the hood is not worn, it will still protect the neck from the zimanko. The hood is big enough, not the kind of tension on the head, very comfortable. Of course, because of the size, the field of view narrows enough when we put it on our heads, but for something.
We also get good big pockets. In front, there are two double pockets on the bottom. One half of these is “accessible” from above and closes with a patent, while the other can be inserted from the side. These are large enough to fit your hands even using thicker gloves.
Seen from the front, the left side pocket is further divided into two parts, as we will be able to insert the external battery that supplies the heating into the inner half of it.
In addition to the outer pockets, we also find an inner one, this is a classic filing pocket. It is deep and zipped, it is also protected from water, so it is just good for documents, money, and the like.
On the outside, the jacket is naturally wind and waterproof, but I think that’s the minimum for a winter, snowy jacket.
As for the look, there’s one more thing worth mentioning, which is nothing more than the Cottonmith logo on the left arm, which is fastened with velcro. The interesting thing about this is that we also find a thermometer in the middle. I didn't take much advantage of it in the harsh Hungarian winter, but it's still interesting.
The knowledge
As I wrote above, the jacket is heated. It wouldn’t be so interesting yet, it’s more about how it heats, because it also has an effect on usage, not a little.
The point is that there is a graphene carbon nanotube heating foil on the lower back. That is, this is not the old, traditional, heated fiber solution, which, when closed, ignites the jacket on us. The interesting thing about this heating is that it is infrared heating, that is, it actually warms our backs.
Another very big advantage of infrared heating is that it starts heating essentially immediately when we turn it on. The warm-up time is essentially measured in seconds.
According to the factory description, this heating mode is also very good because it can withstand both manual and machine washing. So if we can safely throw it in the washing machine at the end of winter, none of the electrical parts will be damaged.
My other Xiaomi jacket has two selectable temperatures, but this jacket has four. These, of course, have automatic temperature control, so they will keep the selected temperature.
The four temperatures in this case are 53-, 48-, 43, and 38 degrees Celsius. On the illuminated ring around the power button, each temperature has a different color, so we will see red, purple, green, and white, respectively, and, of course, none at all when turned off.
It is also important that the electronics also have a safety function that automatically shuts off the heating every 3 hours. This comes in handy when you take off your coat and forget about turning it off.
It is also known that, unlike the other Xiaomi jacket, this charge is not goose feather, but completely synthetic.
Use and experience
We chewed our way through the dry paper quickly, the experience can come!
Let’s start there to make this jacket damn warm even without heating. So much so that I don’t even dare recommend it as a running jacket in and out of a building like this because it specifically rots on you when you go into a heated room. And not because you’re overdressed.
The fact is that infrared heating has many advantages, but there are also disadvantages. The disadvantage is that the farther the heating pad is from the skin surface to be heated, the less effective it is. That is, the weird situation is that the more you dress under your jacket, the less you will feel it is heating.
Because of this, although it sounds weird, in most cases I only put on a t-shirt or a thin warm-up top. Understand this, even when I went out to the bigger minuses in the evening.
Going back to how warm the jacket is, well, in a thread t-shirt at a temperature of roughly 5-6 degrees, turning off the heating in a thread t-shirt, I’m cheerfully in it. If I go to the local tecsó, say, to buy, I have to pull the zipper off, because I don't have to sweat into it. Once again, there is a thread of thin t-shirt under the jacket.
I can mention a negative about the heating, and even that if we sit in the car, for example, wearing only a T-shirt under the jacket with the heating pad on, we suddenly experience a surprising warmth at the waist. It does not burn, it is not hot, it is just that if we lean back in the seat, the heating wire suddenly gets close to the area to be heated, and this also changes the feeling of heat.
It would be weird to mention as a negative in a winter coat test that it’s too hot, so I don’t do that, but I want you to feel like this is really a WINTER COAT.
As a negative for the other Xiaomi jacket, I mentioned that a larger external battery with a capacity of 20 mAh could no longer fit in the pocket designed for this purpose. Well, in the case of Cottonsmith, this is out of the question, it absorbs the twenty thousand powerbank loosely, it would fit even bigger. This deserves a big red dot again.
What I really like is still being soft. But really, outside, inside as well. The material is not rigid, it is terribly comfortable to wear. At the same time, of course, it's easy.

Let’s start there to whom I dare to recommend the Xiaomi Cottonsmith Heated Coat. Mostly for those who like to do outdoor activities even in winter. Go hiking, sledding or other winter sports.
It’s great that you don’t have to get dressed in a crazy way, so it’s comfortable to wear during sports too. The wearer does not feel like a weary Michelin baby. It’s a good thing that instead of a lot of dressing up, if we don’t go out to minus ten degrees for not many hours, I just pick up the t-shirt and then I can go too.
As I wrote, because of its tailoring and the more colors available, I dare to recommend it to ladies and gentlemen as well. For the purchase, we can find a regular size chart on the site, based on which we can decide which size will be good for us.
I am 184 inches tall with long arms and 95 pounds in addition. I chose the 2XL size, which is perfect. The length and abundance would allow for more in height and weight as well, I think this size could be perfect up to a height of roughly 190 inches, and due to the wider fit, a slightly larger tummy would fit ample.
So the point is!
If you’re looking for a winter coat, but so real, all-cold, then buy it! If you’re also playing sports in the winter and it’s important to be able to dress loosely under your jacket, buy it! If the kids need to be pulled on sledges for hours, buy it! If you’re looking for a rushing, warm car jacket in and out, don’t buy it at all!
