Lately, the market for portable Bluetooth speakers has become so saturated that it's hard to tell the difference between dozens of solutions and the real value. Remember my previous Tronsmart reviews? I've always liked that they don't try to look like more than they are, but in terms of sound quality they often beat their more famous competitors. Now the Tronsmart T8 Mini was placed on my desk, which at first glance looks like nothing more than a designer coffee mug, but after turning it on for the first time, I realized that this little "cylinder" holds more serious surprises than its size would suggest.

I don't want to say that this gadget will save the world, but it is certain that it is rare to find such a confident performance in the compact category. The Tronsmart T8 Mini It's not meant to replace a home hi-fi system, but rather fills the void when you need something that can hide in a bag, won't die from a little rain, and won't bleed to death when you have to turn up the volume at a garden party.

I didn't spare any effort during the test, I was curious to see how the manufacturer's promised 15-20 hours of battery life and the bass-oriented soundstage would actually be enough for everyday use. Let's see how the Tronsmart T8 Mini is it really the new secret favorite of the category, or just another plastic box decorated with RGB lights?

Small, round and bright – The appearance and construction of the Tronsmart T8 Mini

When I took it out of the box Tronsmart T8 Mini speaker, my first thought was that this thing really is “mini”. The shape of the device, with dimensions of 125 × 125 × 145 mm, resembles a truncated cone, which fits perfectly in the hand. The casing is made of high-quality, matte-touch plastic, which is surrounded by a densely woven fabric cover – the latter not only looks good, but also has excellent grip, it does not slip out of your hand even when wet.

On the side of the speaker we find the control panel, where the buttons are covered with rubber, so that water resistance (IPX6) is guaranteed. Here we find the power button, the volume controls (which can also be used to switch between tracks), and the play/pause button. What immediately catches the eye is the LED ring around the top edge. This Tronsmart T8 Mini One of its most spectacular elements: it pulses or changes colors to the beat of the music, but if someone is bothered by the "disco lights", they can turn them off with the press of a button.

The connectors are hidden behind a thick rubber cover on the bottom edge of the “mug”, which is a critical point in terms of water resistance. Here we find the USB-C charging port, a 3,5 mm AUX input for wired use, and – which is a rarity in this category – a Micro SD card slot. This means that the Tronsmart T8 Mini It also functions as a standalone music player, so you don't necessarily need to plug in your phone.

In the package, you get a USB-C charging cable in addition to the speaker, and a practical carrying strap on the speaker, which you can attach to the earpiece on the top of the speaker and hang anywhere. There is no separate charging dock, but that's not expected for a device this large; the focus is on mobility.

This construction allows for 360-degree sound, meaning that no matter where you listen from, the sound is evenly distributed in all directions. The nominal power is 15W (some sources say it peaks at around 30W), which is more than decent for a body of this size.

The wireless connection is powered by Bluetooth 5.3, which ensures lightning-fast pairing and stable, drop-free transmission up to 18 meters away. It also supports TWS (True Wireless Stereo) mode, so if you buy two Tronsmart T8 Mini units, they can be set to a stereo pair with the push of a button, doubling the volume and the sense of space.

Hangorka in the garden – My personal experiences using the Tronsmart T8 Mini

I admit, I was skeptical when I first started the music on the Tronsmart T8 Mini on the speaker. You usually expect a boxy sound from a device this big, but here something different happened. The bass was surprisingly full, the passive diaphragm on the bottom was visibly (and audibly) working hard. When you put it on the table, you could feel the vibrations, which is a particularly good experience for a rocker or electronic music.

A Tronsmart T8 Mini Its sound character is clearly tuned to the lows and mids. The highs are clear but not scratchy. The 360-degree radiation really works, placing it in the middle of the table allowed everyone to hear the music with the same quality.

As for the negatives, near maximum volume (above 90%) you can already feel some annoying distortion in the bass, but honestly, such a high volume is rarely needed indoors, because the Tronsmart T8 Mini It can be surprisingly loud. But at most it's not just loud, it's annoyingly loud because of the aforementioned distortion.

The battery lasted me about 12-13 hours at medium volume and with the lights on, which is less than the factory 20 hours, but still more than enough for a full day at the beach or on a hike. If we turn off the lights, we will definitely get closer to the maximum. Its microphone is good for basic conversations, but we don't want to conduct the business meeting of the year on it, because it picks up wind noise.

As with all Tronsmart speakers lately, I have to say that I really don't like the factory tuning of the T8 Mini. I really don't like the pre-programmed sound images either. In the case of the T8 Mini, the Deep Bass is particularly disturbing due to the heavily tuned low-end characteristics if you're listening to real rock. The drums are brutally loud, as if the game was designed to make the little one rumble. Needless to say.

Fortunately, the mobile application also allows for individual tuning, with 5-channel equalization, allowing you to tailor the Tronsmart T8 Mini to your body, or rather to your music, relatively well!

Conclusion – Is the Tronsmart T8 Mini worth the money?

A Tronsmart T8 Mini After testing it, I can say that this is one of the best value-for-money small speakers on the market right now. It doesn't want to save the world, and it can't. It doesn't promise studio quality, but what it does promise - portability, decent bass, spectacular lights and a durable design - it delivers. It's an excellent choice for those looking for a reliable companion for the outdoors, or just for listening to music in the kitchen while cooking without having to worry about the device getting wet.
