The characteristics of the Nehalem architecture coming in the last quarter are as follows:

• 2-8 core scalable central units
• 45 sqm manufacturing technology
• multithreaded parallel execution, two per core
• QuickPath Interconnect comparable to AMD's HyperTransport: provides a high-speed data path
• integrated memory controller: support for 1333, 1066 and 800 MHz DDR3 modules
• shared L3 cache: the size of the third-level cache for four cores is 8 MB
• SSE 4.2 instruction set
