Intel will soon be expanding its desktop processor offering with a new member.

The new central unit Core i5 750 takes its place in the market. The product will operate at 2,8 GHz and will be Core i5 760 on store shelves. Hyper Threading support is still lacking and the memory controller (DDR3 1066 and 1333 MHz) has remained unchanged. The model, which fits into the LGA-1156 processor socket, has a 95W TDP. According to Xfastest, the novelty comes with the same stepping as the Core i5 750. It follows that it is not worth expecting a major improvement in tuning potential. The upgrade fits snugly into Intel's product range, as it has to stand up to the competing Phenom II X6 1055T in terms of price / performance ratio. The distortions in the segment are well characterized by the fact that the dual-core models of the largest processor manufacturer have been included in the price with the new six-core Phenom series. The Intel Core i5 760 may arrive in the third quarter.
