SmartAI P40 Introduction - What is this article about?
The market for cordless vacuum cleaners has undergone significant development in recent years. While previously only a few large manufacturers (Dyson, Philips, Bosch) dominated this segment, now many new players have appeared with innovative solutions. In addition to Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Proscenic and Ultenic, a new brand, SmartAI, has now entered the competition with its P40 model.
The popularity of cordless vacuum cleaners is no accident - practicality and flexibility are increasingly important aspects in modern households. Unlike their wired counterparts, these devices allow for more freedom of movement, and the SmartAI P40 follows exactly this trend with improved features.
Although SmartAI is a new player on the market, it immediately targeted the premium category with the P40 model. The device's 400-watt brushless motor, 33 Pa maximum suction power and 000-liter dust container are remarkable in themselves, but the real special feature is the intelligent functions.
In addition to traditional vacuuming, the device is also suitable for removing hair that accumulates in carpets, upholstery, car interiors and pet carriers in homes. According to the description, a 6-level filter system removes dust and allergens with 99,99% efficiency.
The special feature of the P40 is the two LED touch screens and the intelligent sensor system, which can automatically adapt to different surfaces and dirt. The built-in dirt sensor not only indicates the areas still to be cleaned, but also adjusts the suction power accordingly in automatic mode.
The SmartAI P40, representing a new generation of wireless vacuum cleaners, is a good example of how smart technology plays an increasingly important role in modern cleaning tools, while maintaining their practicality and efficiency.
Design and management of SmartAI P40
The SmartAI P40 stands out from the range of wireless vacuum cleaners with its unique purple and gray color combination if only because of its color. The appearance of the 43,79 x 34,29 x 20,4 cm device is modern and dynamic, while its weight of 2,5 kilograms can be considered average in this category.
There are two LED touch screens on the control interface of the vacuum cleaner, which is a particularly unique solution on the market. The first screen on the handle is located around the power button and is responsible for switching modes. The second, larger display is located above the dust container - on this we can monitor the operating time, the battery charge, any error messages, and the dirt sensor feedback is also displayed here.
The design of the motorized floor head is innovative in several ways. The blue LED lighting effectively helps detect dirt even in darker areas. The head can move 180 degrees forwards and backwards and 90 degrees laterally, which makes cleaning under furniture much easier. There are two special air inlets at the bottom which, according to the manufacturer, help prevent fibers from winding up on the brush.
The accessories of the device include the narrowing head, the 2-in-1 brush and the mite-removal head. The metal extension tube is not telescopic, its length is fixed. The storage of the accessories is facilitated by the attached wall holder, on which the vacuum cleaner can be hung with all the accessories, and the machine can also be charged through the holder.
As usual, the 1,3-liter dust container can be emptied at the push of a button, so there is no need to come into direct contact with the absorbed dirt. The tank and filters can be washed with water, which makes maintenance easier. The battery can be charged in three ways: directly in the device, removed separately, or, as I indicated, placed on the wall holder.
A practical feature of the P40 is that it can stand on its own "own feet" (unlike Ráhel), it does not need to be propped up against a wall or placed on its holder between uses. This property is due to the special design of the motorized head and the weight distribution of the device. The wheels have a non-slip, scratch-resistant silicone coating, which protects even the most delicate floor surfaces.
SmartAI P40 technical specifications
The SmartAI P40 is powered by a 400-watt brushless motor that can be operated at three power levels. It provides a suction power of 17 Pa in the lowest, energy-saving level, 000 Pa in the medium level, recommended for general cleaning, and 25 Pa in maximum performance. These values represent the upper level of the category, although they are no longer the highest.
The energy supply is provided by a removable battery pack containing 7 lithium-ion cells with a capacity of 2500 mAh each. The maximum operating time promised by the manufacturer is 55 minutes, but this can only be achieved at the lowest setting. Approximately 40 minutes of operating time can be expected at medium level, while approximately 25 minutes at maximum power. It takes 3,5-4 hours to fully charge the batteries.
The filter system is described as having 6 stages (I'll come back to this later), which includes a cyclone filter, a stainless steel filter, a multi-cone filter, a foam filter, a HEPA filter, and a blow-out filter. According to the manufacturer, this system can filter out 0,1% of particles with a size of 99,99 microns. The filters and the dust container can be washed with water, so they can be easily kept clean.
The capacity of the dust container is 1,3 liters, which is above average in the category. This size makes it possible to completely clean a larger apartment without emptying the tank. Emptying the tank is simple and can be done with a single button press, so there is no need to come into direct contact with the absorbed dirt.
According to the manufacturer's data, the noise level of the device does not exceed 65 dB, which allows for pleasant use. In automatic mode, the built-in dirt detection sensor continuously monitors the amount of dust absorbed and adjusts the motor performance accordingly, optimizing energy consumption.
The complete equipment of the P40 includes the motorized floor head with LED lighting, the vacuum cleaner, the upholstery cleaning head and the 2-in-1 combined brush. The metal extension tube is not telescopic, but its length is adequate for most applications. The included wall holder helps to store the entire set.
Experiences using SmartAI P40
This was also a machine that I was reluctant to test. The reason for this is to be found in his name. Nowadays, when manufacturers want to call even the biggest bastards the name Ai, i.e. artificial intelligence, I am afraid of a vacuum cleaner whose BRAND NAME is SmartAi. That is, not just artificial intelligence, but SMART artificial intelligence.
This is approx. it's like last year, when the artist Kuncze featured a child and a dog on his election poster, because you can sell anything with a child and a dog, even the artist Kuncze. Then, of course, it turned out that people don't always buy bullshit...
Well, let's see the test!
The first thing I should mention is that the manufacturer says this machine has a 6-layer filter system, but I can't count more than 4 layers even if I try very hard. The Cyclon filter, then the metal filter, another separating "pipe system" inside, and finally the HEPA filter. I have no idea what a foam filter is and what a blowout filter is and where to find them.
The blow-out filter is usually on the outlet side, but there is none here, as you cannot remove the back of the machine, there is a display there, and you cannot remove the side of the machine either, there is only the outlet air grille, there is no trace of a filter.
Let's face it, this test doesn't start well!
I don't have a problem with the exterior, the displays are also good, although a bit too much of the good, but let's not be bitter, more is better. Or not? Anyway, the display, the switch, the touch-sensitive step switch are good, they work well, they even look quite normal, even if I wouldn't give them a design award.
The device is easy to use, and the use of the two touch screens can be learned quickly. However, the display of the remaining operating time is not completely reliable - several times it happened that the display suddenly "jumped" for a few minutes, or the battery ran out sooner than predicted. The noise level really stays below the stated 65 dB, which makes for pleasant use.
The battery pops out easily, but the retaining tab doesn't seem very strong. Hopefully there won't be any problems with him in the future either. The tab holding the tank and the whole solution looks better than in the case of Proscenic machines, where this is usually one of the weakest points.
On the other hand, I think the tab for the one-button opening is too big, and it also sticks out of the plane of the container, you have to be careful not to open the bottom of the dust container while vacuuming.
The practical test was the usual one, soup for heavy dirt, rice for medium dirt and flour to simulate dust.
Basically there was no problem with any of them. The larger soup pearl balls did not fit under the head, I had to lift the head so that they could roll to the brush and get into the container. The rice went into the powder container without any residue and the flour was absorbed as it should be.
After vacuuming, I immediately removed the dust container to see how much flour got through the system and how far it went.
I have good news and bad news. The cyclone separator is not the most perfect I have seen. it came up from the flour to the HEPA filter. The good news is that nothing got through the HEPA filter, so the engine remained dust-free.
When testing the SmartAI P40 in my apartment, I first tried the automatic mode, which was a pleasant surprise. The dirt detection sensor really works - a red-green LED bar on the display shows how clean the given surface is. You have to vacuum an area until this bar turns completely green.
Although I was skeptical about this feature at first, it turned out to be useful in practice. The reason for my skepticism was that automatic mode is not usually built into machines of this category, because automatic mode requires additional sensors and electronics.
Automation can work in two ways. Or a sensor monitors the amount of air taken in, in which case it can logically be programmed to e.g. upon reaching the carpet, switch the machine to a higher speed due to the changed passing air. The other method is the dust sensor, in which case the electronics adjusts the speed based on the amount of dust flowing through.
It is surprising, but during use it seemed to me that the P40 uses the latter method. This is surprising because I have only seen such a dust sensor in machines costing roughly twice as much. So I may be wrong about the sensor, but the bottom line is that the automatic suction power worked very well.
Among the three manual modes, I found the medium, 25000 Pa setting to be the most practical for everyday use. The low 17000 Pa rating felt a bit weak even on hard floors, while the maximum 33000 Pa rating is really impressive, but it does significantly reduce run time. The automatic mode is a good compromise, it switches smartly between different strengths.
I should have been somewhat disappointed with the battery life of the SmartAI P40, because the manufacturer promises 55 minutes of operation at the lowest level, and I did not achieve more than 40 minutes of operation even in pure eco mode. If I switched to a stronger gear every now and then, it was reduced to 25-30 minutes. The charging time is really around 3,5-4 hours, which is acceptable, but not an outstanding value.
The conditional mode is the reason why I wasn't really disappointed, because I didn't believe the operating time specified in the factory data, during real use I would have put my vote for half of that, and I was right!
The 40-liter capacity of the SmartAI P1,3's dust container proved to be ample in practice, even after cleaning an 80-square-meter apartment, it was not completely full. Emptying the container is really simple and hygienic, although sometimes the hairs can get stuck, in which case you have to manually help out the process. The filter system, as I wrote above, works efficiently despite its 4 levels, the blown air seemed clean, I didn't see dust coming out even when I hit the vacuum cleaner hard during operation.
The special design of the motorized floor head of the SmartAI P40 partially fulfilled the expectations placed on it. The 180-degree movement is really useful under furniture, and the blue LED lighting is a big help in dark corners. Let's say, if someone asked me how much better this is than the green LED, I would spread my arms in confusion. Not better, just different. At the same time, it was not possible to completely eliminate the curling of the hairs - after prolonged use, the brush needs to be cleaned from time to time from the curled fibers.
Among the accessories, the 2-in-1 brush and crevice tool proved to be the most useful. The operation of the mite removal head did not fully convince me, while the wall holder is practical, but requires more space than I expected. The device's ability to stop itself is a particularly useful feature in everyday life.
SmartAI P40 - Summary and Final Rating
Let's start the evaluation with that, the name, and the emotions it evokes. Well, this machine is Ai in name only, as you might have guessed. Of course, this is just a minor, albeit not very pleasant, stumbling block regarding the choice of name, since the SmartAI P40 is a wireless vacuum cleaner that has outstanding features in several aspects. At the same time, we should not ignore the fact that some areas still need development.
The SmartAI P40's strengths include a maximum suction force of 33 Pa, handy dual touch screen controls and an effective, though I think only 000-stage filter system. The high-capacity dust container and intelligent dirt sensor are also advantages that facilitate everyday use.
At the same time, we cannot ignore the weak points of the SmartAI P40. The operating time of the battery falls far short of the value promised by the manufacturer, the display of the remaining operating time is inaccurate, and the problem of the curling of the hairs has not been completely solved either. However, these are shortcomings that often occur with other models in the category.
The price-performance ratio of the device can be said to be favorable, especially if we take into account the extra functions such as automatic mode, LED lighting or dual touch screen. Although SmartAI is a new player on the market, it proved with the P40 model that it can compete with brands that have been present for a long time.
Overall, I would recommend the SmartAI P40 to those looking for a modern cordless vacuum cleaner with smart features and who can accept that the battery life is a bit shorter than expected. The device is perfectly suited for regular cleaning of medium-sized apartments, and thanks to the various accessories, it also solves special cleaning tasks.
