Redmi Note 11 tutorial - good, but not outstanding

Introductory

It’s going to be just a little fun now because the dumping on the new phones is so great that I just didn’t have time to test the Note 11 and do the usual test and video. Instead, the somewhat more interesting Note 11 Pro 5G has been put on the test table, you can already read this article on the page.

The Note 11 family replaced the Note 10 series with lightning speed, which I don't know why, because the 10 series did particularly well, so it was questionable whether there would be as much new in the new series as to justify the switch. I shoot the joke, it didn't work out.

Of course, the Note 11 and 11 Pro (5G) and brought novelties, but they are not busts. Let's see briefly what Note 11 has become!

Hardware

Proci, memory

The phone's processor is the Snapdragon 680, which is of course 8 core and of course already made at 6 nanometers. The proci comes with an Adreno 610 GPU, 4GB of memory and 64GB or 128GB of storage.

If we have to look at the proci to see if we get a new or better one compared to the Redmi 10, the answer is that as in the folk tale, it is not. In more detail, the proci is being made on a newer, lower bandwidth, so presumably the energy hunger is better and the warming is lower, but the performance has not really changed compared to the Snapdragon 678.

Display

We also get a little better in terms of display, there is at least two important pieces of data here that are relevant to usage, and the values are better than their predecessors.

AMOLED was released in Redmi Note 10 (the first in the history of the series), which we were very happy about. Fortunately, the manufacturer has not stepped back in this area, in fact, the image refresh rate has increased from 10 to 60 Hz compared to the Redmi 90 AMOLED panel. This is good!

Even better, the brightness has also improved. The peak is not, the remaining 1100 nits, but the typical brightness has increased from 450 to 700 nits, which is really welcome.

There is no other change. The size and resolution of the display have not changed, so the pixel density is the same.

Kamerák

We don't find much change around the cameras either, the basic setup is essentially the same. The only difference is that in the case of the main camera, Xiaomi already uses the newer 48-megapixel sensor at the entry level instead of the older 50, so this will be included in the Note 11 as well.

In addition to the main camera, an 8-mega ultra-wide, a 2-mega macro and a 2-megabyte depth sensor work. It’s the same for bone as it was in Note 9 a little over a year ago.

Since I have been able to try several phones with this camera set up, the knowledge did not come as a surprise.

In the case of the 50-megapixel unit, I still feel like there’s a lot more in the sensor than what Xiaomi brings out of it. Don’t ask why I think so, I can’t really give a definite answer, let’s just say, after so many phone tests, I feel that way.

I note it’s not at all impossible for the Xiaomi to directly stun the capabilities, as it did in the Note 11 Pro 5G as well. There, despite the strong proci and 108-megapixel camera, the video option is only 1080p 30 fps, and vibration damping only exists on paper. It is an impossibility that a decent 4K recording could not have been extracted from that hardware.

The stupidity is also possible because the Xiaomi essentially uses only two sensors, these 50 and 108, so if they got the most out of every phone, there would be almost no difference in camera capabilities. Then many would not give much more money because of the cameras in the higher category.

So you see, here’s a usable 50-megapixel camera that again didn’t get everything out of it.

And we prefer to leave the remaining "cameras". It says a lot that we’ve been getting this for years. The quality is the same. Let’s face it, it’s a shame, I feel a bit deceived by customers because I can’t believe the one better resolution wouldn’t fit into the price. Or, you should leave the useless 2 mega macro and pack a decent ultra-wide unit of money on your phones. I think many of us would be happy about that.

Other hardware

At least we don’t have to be very disappointed here with what we can expect from the category, we get it. Finally no luxury with NFC, there is ac standard wifi, Bluetooth 5.0, normal navigation system support. What didn't fit in the price was the 5G.

Also important is the battery, which in this case has a capacity of 5000 mAh, in addition to charging at 33 watts. There will be no suspicion of uptime complaints as the proci is thrifty and Redmi phones have all been true uptime champions in recent years.

There are also “extras” left, such as stereo sound and vibration with Z-direction, infrared and jack.

Summary

I’ve put some thoughts into the above to see what I think of the new phone. It didn’t go bad, but I did feel a little lacking.

I don’t really understand the reason why it was released, why it was so urgent. I’ll explain this in a next phone test, but that device is still under NDA coverage, so I signed the confidentiality and I can’t say anything about it. But I promise I will…

So, turning back to Redmi Note 11, the new device brings what we can expect from it. We've also got some fixes (it might be an exaggeration to write an improvement), so it's no question that the Note 10 may no longer be the device you need to buy if you're researching in this price range.

I have the most complaints about cameras, though it’s not new anymore, I’ve been crying for Xiaomi’s “innovations” for at least a year and a half. I note the competing manufacturers are no different either, there’s really nothing to choose from if one doesn’t want to spend the price of a car on the phone.

All in all, I recommend the Note 11 for purchase, as it has become a well-assembled device with a good display and adequate hardware power, plus it looks good.

You can order the device from the Goboo web store (official Xiaomi partner), a Spanish warehouse, for the time being, the domestic distribution will start at the end of March, if I remember correctly.
